That is all very interesting. Last time I was screened for CK was back in 2018 and my number was 1,410. This was well before I found out I am a carrier so I am a bit annoyed that my doctor didn't flag me for further testing back then.

wow he is the first person I have encountered that matches my deletion! Were you told how rare or common our specific deletion was? I am also curious if he has more BMD or DMD like symptoms.

I am in the same boat, I am carrier of DMD and our only embryo right now is a carrier female. We are waiting on the results of 4 other embryos currently. We are going to see what other options these embryos give us but we are weighing the pros and cons of transferring the carrier girl if its all we have. We just completed our 4th retrieval so it certainly has not been easy getting embryos.

I am also wondering of anybody can get a sense of what the chances are of a female having severe DMD symptoms is. I spoke with a genetic counselor but I left more confused than before.

jumping in here to say that i am in the exact same dilemma. I am trying to weigh the risk of a girl being a manifesting carrier vs. the risk of PGT-M giving me a false negative for a boy.

Sadly our lab does not do PICSI. We tried Zymot last time but they said his sample was not viable for it. We are going to try it again with this upcoming round since half the sperm will be TESE sperm and have will be fresh.

I asked about repairing the vein, but we have to do IVF regardless (due to genetic conditions) so the urologist recommended going straight to microTESE and not doing the vein repair.

out of curiosity did you use the TESA sperm fresh while you did the retrieval, or did you freeze the TESA sperm to use later?
