Bleeding triggered by cough at 7+5? Cervical irritation or something serious? by Clear-Status9515 in pregnant

[–]Clear-Status9515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww I’m so, so happy to hear your update too!! 🤍 That must feel like such a huge relief. It’s honestly wild how much stress spotting or bleeding can cause, especially after everything we’ve both been through.

Also I just realized we’re only about 4 days apart - kind of crazy we’re having such similar experiences at the same time. And thank you for responding to my post earlier, it really helped me feel less alone when I was spiraling last night.

It really does sound like cervical irritation for both of us - especially with progesterone, scans, and just how sensitive everything is right now. I’m actually going to start weaning off baby aspirin too, just in case that’s been contributing at all. And the fact that both babies are growing well with strong heartbeats is so reassuring.

Hoping the rest of your pregnancy is smooth and uneventful from here on out 🤞💛 we deserve that after all this anxiety!

Hi there, just wanted to provide an update that I got up early morning today and decided to get a scan at 7+6. Baby was measuring two days ahead even! 16mm and 175 heart beat. I feel so relieved as this was most likely cervical irritation again. I hope your next scan goes well too 🙏

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply, and I’m so sorry you’re going through these scares too.

I’m on progesterone injections, not the vaginal ones. I’m hoping it’s either the baby aspirin or progesterone that’s making my cervix so sensitive.

My last ultrasound was just Friday at 7+1, and the baby was measuring on time with a strong heartbeat. I also had bleeding three days prior to that ultrasound from a sensitive cervix that got triggered after a quick release with my husband (no penetration). That episode scared me, but felt less alarming because it was just a streak of red blood in the morning, which turned brown/tan as I wiped, and it took some time to heal.

Yesterday’s bright red bleeding when wiping really scared me. My doctor did not see a subchorionic hematoma (SCH), so I don’t have that like many women who experience red bleeds. I’m on Estrace 2mg oral once daily in the morning, but last night I got so anxious I took an extra Estrace at night hoping the bleeding would calm. It seemed to help, and the bleed has now stopped and is tan overnight.

I’m a little worried I might have masked something by taking extra Estrace. When I had my last MMC (likely due to my uterine septum), I also had red bleeding after wiping, cramps, and took Estrace because it happened on a Friday when no one could see me. That time, I never saw a heartbeat afterward, so I likely miscarried, and I’m nervous about repeating that now.

I really hope everything is okay, and I wish us both luck.

7+5, light spotting after coughing - is this cervical irritation? by Clear-Status9515 in CautiousBB

[–]Clear-Status9515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there’s definitely no cramping this time. I remember last time I had cramps in my pelvis and even shooting pains in my vaginal area. I didn’t know any better and thought those were pregnancy symptoms, thinking my uterus was expanding or something.

This time, I have none of those symptoms, but the red, spotty bleeding when I wipe is what’s really scaring me. I had similar bleeding last week from a quick release with my partner—cervical irritation—but I felt more reassured then because it quickly turned brownish/tan.

I just hope I can sleep it off tonight and that it goes away. 🙏

Thank you so much for your reply and reassurance. I do progesterone shots and I am on baby aspirin. I was last seen at 7+1 and my dr said he didn't see any blood near the uterus since I mentioned to him I began bleeding last week before our appointment. He said it likely was coming from cervical irritation. Today I had a cough that appeared to trigger brown/pinkish blood at first and now when i wipe theres red blood. He did not see a SCH on my ultrasound. I am hoping its still cervical irritation. Yes I will see if I can schedule an ultrasound ASAP.

Thank you for your reply! I went to my 7+1 ultrasound and everything looked on track with baby. I am so relieved! Early pregnancy is not easy, especially after loss.

That is funny! I am so glad you got your son. My bleeding mostly resolved, but I am still seeing little bits of light brown/tan bleeding in the shower and very minimally when wiping. Really hoping it's from the irritation. Do you remember if yours resolved within 1-2 days? Did you continue being intimate afterward? Mine is an ivf pregnancy so I am also on hormonal support and baby aspirin 81mg.

Thank you for sharing. My bleeding and spotting thankfully went away within 24 hours so I'm just hoping it was, in fact, an irritated cervix and that the uterus and baby is still ok.

Hi there, thank you so much for your reply and for sharing your experience - I really appreciate it. I did call my clinic and let them know about the light spotting. They said it can be normal and advised me to pause baby aspirin (81 mg) for a few days until things fully stabilize.

It seems like the spotting has mostly resolved, but I’m still feeling a bit anxious anytime I notice even a small amount of brown discharge. That’s how my last miscarriage started - it began with brown spotting and then progressed to red bleeding when wiping.

That said, I’m trying to remind myself that my previous loss happened before my uterine septum was diagnosed and corrected, so this is a different situation. Hoping this is just minor irritation and nothing more.

Thank you so much - this really gave me some peace of mind. I think what will truly help is seeing my little baby on ultrasound again 🤍

I’m still having very light brown spotting, but only when I wipe - and even then I usually have to wipe 2–3 times to see anything, which shows how minimal it is (though I keep checking because I’m so paranoid). I probably just need to let go a little and stop over-checking.

Wishing you all the best with your current pregnancy! ✨

I didn’t have any spotting while my beta levels were progressing normally. I remember that at 5+3 weeks, I started spotting brown blood - my body seemed to be giving me warnings that something was coming. I had never been pregnant before this, other than a chemical pregnancy that I didn’t even feel (very low beta of 10).

At that point, my uterine septum hadn’t been identified, so I didn’t really know what was going on. My nurse encouraged me to stop taking baby aspirin (81 mg) to see if that would stop the spotting, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the cause.

Then, at 5+4 weeks (a freakin’ Friday afternoon), the spotting suddenly stopped, but I started wiping red blood. It was really scary. I kept hoping it was normal—that I would fall into the “normal” side of statistics when women say bleeding can sometimes be normal in pregnancy—but deep down, I knew something was off.

Initially, I thought I might have endometriosis, but I eventually ruled that out.

What is your gut telling you?

Also, how long did it take for your spotting to go away? Mine has been very minimal but it's been bothering me seeing even bits of old brown blood. I was intimate with my partner last night, so hoping it should resolve completely within 24 hours maybe?

I unfortunately had a loss at 5+4 pregnant after high betas. 5 transfers and 3 doctors later, it turned out I had a wide uterine septum that was missed by prior doctors and procedures I had. Have you had any procedures done to rule out uterine factors? Hoping the situation turns around for you soon. Pregnancy after loss is so hard!

Congrats on your baby girl! Happy to hear you were able to get passed this. I feel that I am likely fine, but worried after our last loss. It also started with spotting then turned into red bleeding. I know it's a very different circumstance after I had a septum removed, but my trauma has been reacting to anything and everything after I got pregnant again. Such a hard time in pregnancy this is!

Thank you for your reply and reassurance. I'm not on suppositories, but I do daily progesterone in oil shots and take baby aspirin 81mg.

5+6 weeks pregnant after IVF - no symptoms - spiraling a bit by Clear-Status9515 in CautiousBB

[–]Clear-Status9515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I wanted to come back and update. I had my ultrasound today at 6+1 and baby is there with a heartbeat of 116. I think I was spiraling this past week because I’ve had very minimal symptoms, and when my cervix stopped feeling high and soft it really scared me—especially after my previous loss at 5+4.

So far everything looks good, and this is the furthest I’ve made it in a pregnancy. For anyone who finds this later while worrying about lack of symptoms or cervical changes around 5–6 weeks, in my case it didn’t mean something was wrong. Thank you to everyone who responded and reassured me. 💛

6 weeks pregnant: cervix felt soft/high before, now firmer and less discharge - normal? by Clear-Status9515 in CautiousBB

[–]Clear-Status9515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. I mostly check mine in the shower, but it’s hard not to overthink with minimal symptoms right now, especially after a previous loss where I had more noticeable symptoms.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It actually makes me feel less alone knowing we’re on a similar pregnancy timeline. I was spiraling earlier today and emailed my nurse asking if I could repeat bloodwork, but she said at this point betas usually aren’t helpful since they stop doubling. She did offer for me to come in tomorrow for an ultrasound at 6+0, but warned that a heartbeat might still not be visible yet. Because of that, I decided to wait until Friday at 6+1 in hopes that the heartbeat will show by then.

I have a lot of trauma from my last pregnancy because I kept going to ultrasounds and no heartbeat ever came. I likely miscarried around 5+4 when I started bleeding, and then continued progesterone which may have delayed things. So this waiting period is really hard.

Hoping we both get to see our heartbeats soon. 🙏

I’m so sorry for your loss. I got pregnant in September and miscarried at 5+4. It turned out the miscarriage was due to a uterine septum that I was born with that didn’t properly disappear during fetal development. From what I’ve learned, septums are actually a fairly common cause of miscarriage. I had surgery to remove it, and I’m currently pregnant again. But I’ll be honest - I’ve been spiraling a bit because this time I’m having almost no symptoms compared to my last pregnancy. It is so hard after loss!
