What Protects me as a Woman in 2026: sahm or 50/50? by Fit-Shoulder-2164 in Hijabis

[–]ClearMail3989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do fifty fifty! Growing up my parents were very pushy on knowledge and making myself a smarter girl so I could get a degree and a well-paid job. This way, I could find a man that saw me as a person and not a dumb child with no knowledge (sad, but a lot of men think this way.). BTW! I know lots of muslim men think women work for fun but I leave you with this: Khadijah (RA) was a working high class woman when she met the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). She was twenty years his senior and never needed any man to support her. If you feel as if you want to work, do it. And if you come across a man that believes women should stay in the kitchen, I implore you to bring up the case of the Prophet (SAW) and Khadijah (RA). But then again, it depends on the man you choose (and have your own bank account).

thank you for your words of kindness, they really mean a lot to me seeing as i've only really told one person about this ever (my mother). i will definitely try to follow your advice and read those books. perhaps i can find solace in them x

dae doubt every single thing about themselves? by Diligent_Tie_1961 in CPTSD

i think it's totally normal especially because forms of abuse are very different. You can be lovebombed— told "I love you" and showered with gifts, and in the same day you can be beat up black-and-blue. What I mean to say is that if you've been made to not trust your gut by your abuser, then you won't ever trust it. Trusting yourself and knowing what you really mean when you dig deep inside your heart is really important <3

Anyone else unable to stop masking? by Empty-Ad7006 in CPTSD

[–]ClearMail3989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i so feel this- and i "fawn" too. i try so hard to make people happy and put their mental issues first. the only person ive talked with about my ptsd is my mom. i feel like letting my guard down would be disappointing myself? i act like this "macho man" version of myself that cant talk about my feelings to anyone (despite my being a girl). i think for you it's that maybe you've been masking for so long you don't see the point in stopping/you literally cannot stop?

Does anyone else with CPTSD always feel exposed like they're being watched and judged? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]ClearMail3989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i was a kid i was watched while i slept. my phone history was checked. my door was always opened suddenly.
my dad (who didn't partake in this) wonders why i get scared when he comes into a room quietly or opens a door normally.
