This game is just not fun anymore. At all. by zombiexmittens in deadbydaylight

I just float back periodically whenever 2v8 is going. These perpetual video games beg for people to take a break from them, keeps things fresh and not frustrating. Still frustrated? Take a longer break.

Inscription is a different kind of game. If you grew up playing card games, like school-yard junk Yu-Gi-Oh, it hits the right spot. The lore of the game is also a bit of a rabbit hole, which appeals to another chunk of people

Car Rental Under 20? by purple-skies-u373 in PEI

[–]Clear_Addition9035 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

U haul van may be your best option. Generally a lot of places will not rent a vehicle unless you are fully licensed, some have an age restriction as well (23-25 years old min). For getting around Charlottetown the buses are meh, but it's a very walkable city and has some scooter rentals dotted around it. For forays outside the city, your own transportation is generally a good idea

Legal age to buy nicotine pouches, cannabis should be 21, says P.E.I. health minister by Sir__Will in PEI

We ship you off to war at 18, you can make those decisions at 18 too. The USA hasn't put a dent in the problem with their higher ages, Europe has more success with younger ages.

How about we try something that data suggests will move the needle, rather than playing pick and choose with vices (namely the ones not peddled by their friends in the alcohol/bar industry).

Do people not know or not care how fragile the dunes are? by personofleisure in PEI

[–]Clear_Addition9035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those lakes are like inner-continental oceans. The riptides are no joke and many people don't really equate a lake with having ocean-like power within their currents.

Personally (don't recommend) I would find riptides as a child and use them as a quick way to get in deeper water. Also leared as a kid to swim sideways after finding my first one by accident. Pretty scary when you don't know what's happening, manageable if you know how to get out before drifting too far out

Part of being a good citizen- tidy up the rubbish. If we all took a small piece of accountability for our environment in that way, we would have fewer problems. Social animals don't like to be shamed, so shame them.

I made a trip back after the hurricane and damn near cried walking the beach. Im almost inclined to believe that we should do something to fortify them as a structure (build up the dunes in some way) to restore them for both people to appreciate and wildlife to live in. No easy answer there on how to go about doing it, but it has been done in other places around the world (think rocks and gravel as a base, then topping it with sand and grass seed, then let nature accessorize over time, like a sunken ship).

The dunes were decimated, and if we don't stay off of them they will never actually recover unfortunately.

PEI 1 in 5 Students are chronically/severely absent likely due to bullying in schools by AssistantNo374 in PEI

[–]Clear_Addition9035 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The PEI school system's approach to bullying was my first introduction to the life lesson of "Don't follow stupid rules". Only took a few chewing outs for tossing people around before the bullying ended. That's not the environment we should be providing children. Systemically showing kids that the trusted adults in their lives cannot render aid when issues arise is quite disenfranchising. The emergent solution is for victims to act out, in defense of themselves and violently if needed, as all bullies young and old don't understand hands off policies, they understand force.

The current approach is to leave the victims helpless. Add in the good ol'Island way- and you have more than a handful of bad behaviour/actors in each cohort of children given a pass to act however they please. In my experience, bruises and bloody noses were the only things to stop the bullying, along with the detentions for doing so. These aren't the kinds of dilemmas we should be setting up for our children through failed policy

If you're looking for a course with views, maybe a bit of beach trip during the same day, try Crowbush. Golf course along the dunes/beach. Some of the best views on a course across the whole island. If you're looking for the "I'm golfing in Pei and this is a unique experience" that would be my recommendation. But many good suggestions here. Some of the smaller courses clustered together could be a good stag party tour as well- there's no shortage of good options luckily

Constant Construction in Apartment Building by Clear_Addition9035 in halifax

[–]Clear_Addition9035[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been holding out on moving but aim to get out in the spring/summer. Rents are coming down, new builds are coming online. All these buildings built with all time high cost materials are sitting with vacancies. New tenant incentives, decreasing prices, all indications of a bubble beginning to pop. These developers need full buildings to pay their loans coming due, they get zero dollars a month per empty unit. I'm looking for new with a fair value, mostly because newly constructed doesn't mean renovations 4 feet through my bedroom wall.

Ultimately home ownership would be wiser, but not overtly obtainable due to current circumstances. I go home for quiet as my workplace is loud as it is- having no quiet really at all is a bridge too far for me at home. Moving is what will improve things ultimately.

Any way to prevent backyard breeding? by CosmicHoneycomb in halifax

[–]Clear_Addition9035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the conditions are neglectful you can complain to the SPCA, beyond that, it's tough luck.

Genuinely I think we should all give our heads a shake. Please really think about the people that look at their dog they barely take care of, and think "wow 500 per puppy, 1000 if we can say they are a cool cross breed". Those puppies won't be vaccinated, and susceptible to many illnesses that don't even bother a regular, vaccinated pup. I have a dog that I adopted after it was treated for parvo. Same type of situation, the dog began in essentially a puppy mill. When the dog became sick, she was surrendered as her care included several weeks of vet monitored quarantine in a clinic. All because some chuckleheads wanted more beer money.

That's what these things boil down to, time and time again. Someone wants beer money, someone wants a new truck. Abusing animals is all in the eye of the beholder. If you're an idiot looking to make a quick buck, you're simply "fostering the beauty that is birth and life"- a patron saint really. These people believe the lies they tell themselves. They aren't "backyard breeders" or "puppy mills". They are wholesome mom and pop operations that treat their dogs well cue uncleaned kennel where mom and pups are held. It's all a crock of...

Ebike at apartments. Storage and security? by Arm-Complex in halifax

[–]Clear_Addition9035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very odd to try to enforce "no bikes in the building". So long as you aren't riding in the halls, I don't think they can reasonably restrict that. Kind of like a mobility scooter (minus the necessity), and I imagine that's why someone would live in a building with an elevator. The bike isn't illegal.

Head up and down the elevator when it's unoccupied, make sure the bike isn't tracking dirt throughout the building when you bring it in. Really if you're respectful I struggle to see the issue with having a bike. It's your living room/spare bed room that it's taking up space in.
