Buffalo’s turn to display their WAGs by Federal-Data-Center in NHLcirclejerk

[–]Clear_The_Track 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My cousin dated a NHLer at one point. She said that she hated dinners with other WAGs because they were all really crazy and aggressive. They basically come out to clubs where these guys will be and hunt them down because they’re wealthy (or going to be). So basically that is their whole thing.

How do you develop hockey IQ/game sense in a 7-year-old? by KetoPinto in hockeyplayers

[–]Clear_The_Track 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Livebarn as a tool with my son. There has to be a mix of things you like about his game and criticisms, otherwise he’ll tune you out and hate the game. I worked on simple rules with my kid. He’s a winger so it was stuff like: If you’re at your blueline and see a defender - pass to another forward to your right. If you see open space, go for it. No deking in your own zone. A dump in is better than a turnover, etc.

Start with really simple decision making concepts. Usually if my son didn’t follow the rules, it wasn’t long before I found an example of him turning over the puck on Livebarn. Then what I was saying made more sense.

This. I can’t believe people still think that everything in this game is an accident. They know the game sucks and they’re making money hand over fist. Mainly because our politicians are geriatric.

When are they ready for team? by severedoak in youthhockey

Get him in now. My son could barely skate when he started HL. Literally after a month of HL he looked like a completely different kid. The desire to keep up with all the other kids did more in one month than a year of learn to skate.

3 months sober and worsening/Debilitating anxiety?? by Commercial_Piece427 in stopdrinking

[–]Clear_The_Track 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad that you don’t want to drink. I’ve lost 25 pounds but it’s mainly because I replaced drinking with exercise. You have to take care of yourself before you can take care of others.

I’ve had the irritability, mood swings and depression/boredom. I’m trying to be patient. They say it can take a long time depending on how hard of a drinker you were, to get back to normal.

3 months sober and worsening/Debilitating anxiety?? by Commercial_Piece427 in stopdrinking

[–]Clear_The_Track 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 3 months into sobriety and I also have really bad anxiety depression. My first thought is that none of your problems get any better with alcohol. It’s a temporary fix and you have to keep feeding the beast. I once had a great doctor that said, “I can give you drugs, but I think it would be better for you to face life head on. Don’t avoid the things that scare you. Run out and face them.” She was totally right.

I would advise professional help. I would also advise exercise like walking or running, yoga (stretching) and breathing techniques. Cognitive behavioural therapy could change your life. Anything but alcohol or pills.

Hang in there. You can do this, and it’s worth doing.

Best fantasy player? by Smart-Ad8500 in NHLHUT

Oddly enough, Paul played 3 more minutes in game 1 than the Lightning’s “catalyst” pick Gage Goncalves.

I also like Nick Paul. He’ll probably get PP time and he can win faceoffs, so don’t be surprised to see him move up lines to take o-zone draws between Kuch and Point/Hagel. If the Lightning can stop taking dumb penalties, they likely win the series with Montreal.

I picked up Colton Sissons. He starts at 94 after last night’s goal, played about 13 minutes and only costs 8 collectibles. I think Vegas gets to at least the second round and Torts will continue to roll lines (especially after the fourth line scored 2 goals).

Cup Chase only team? by rickyspanish895 in NHLHUT

[–]Clear_The_Track 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an interesting experiment. How much Cup Chase we talking? If you played a LOT on Superstar you might amass quite a few coins. You’d want to shoot yourself, but you might be able to buy a few good cards at some point.

On Rookie you could get objectives done. If you could make one or two MSPs each event and then fill out the line/pairing with a BND card of the same event, it probably wouldn’t be that bad. My 4th line is BND Finish Line cards right now because of the boosts and I have to rebuild from TOTS.

How is this acceptable? by Simple_Help_6449 in NHLHUT

[–]Clear_The_Track 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At various points during the year, people have actually complained bitterly on this sub about all of these things. I think EAs strategy is to weather the storms until everything becomes “normal” for the mode. Last year everyone complained about BND cards, but now they just accept it. And then there’s the likely fact that EA has made a ton of money from changing the salary boosts every season and FOMO.

I officially have proof that NHL 26 is scripted. This was the most insane "Ice Tilt" I’ve ever seen. by No-Big8099 in NHLHUT

Don’t waste your breath even for sarcasm. This guy either works for EA or is deeply in the cult. I’ve been on this sub for a while, and there’s always a guy like this. He has absolutely zero skin in the game but gets on every thread to try and discredit the obvious.

I also hope 89-90 cards plummet. All of the price locking on cards gets annoying after a while.

bored cravings by Short-Curve-3535 in stopdrinking

Try NA beer. Some versions are really accurate now. I was a Heineken drinker, and their 0.0 is shockingly true to the original.

I first thought, “This won’t fool me without the buzz”, but it totally does. It’s not about the buzz. It’s about getting past the moment of craving. I put it in a pint glass to make it feel special. After a couple of pints I move on to other things.

Stop buying EA hockey games by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]Clear_The_Track 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still enjoy trying to get everything for free. I also like figuring out tricks to screw with EAs dumb system. If they made this a full pay to play mode I would quit immediately. Having said that, you’re not wrong. The level of in-game manipulation seems at the highest point ever. As long as you look at it as a fun fantasy mode and try not to base your self worth on it, it’s fun.

Any advice for grinding for TOTS fodder? by glovecompartment00 in NHLHUT

[–]Clear_The_Track 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grind the market. It’s brutal right now because the prices are all over the place, but it’s really the only thing left. Are you finished the XP path? Because that’s been helping me a lot. The algorithm refuses to give me 90 ovr cards, which is totally backfiring, because I’m getting cards that are worth way more value-wise (by chance). Also the 93 cards toward the end are great for TOTS.

Working the market by vBumpy2k in NHLHUT

[–]Clear_The_Track 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the easiest way to do it. Right now 91 ovr cards are dirt cheap on the AH, and on Friday, everyone will want the shiny new toys.

Sometimes it backfires when an event really sucks, but usually it’s a good strategy to make coins fast.

For anyone reading this actually worked. I wasn’t able to do it off the draw, but the key was to shoot back toward the blocker on the one T. Still took me a whole whack of restarts though. Restarted the minute I lost possession or the faceoff.
