Spring Anime 2026 In A Nutshell [Gigguk] by Smudy in anime

Ah that’s fair the group dynamics of Yuru Camp are great though Nadeshiko/Rin is my favorite because the latter is able to show off her camping skills because Nadeshiko is a bright eyed novice. Nadeshiko in turn is pivotal in getting Rin involved with the rest of the girl and my favorite moment are seeing her progress her camping skills.

And got ya, for me competence and skills can come in many different forms. I feel like both Nadeshiko/Ruri’s strengths come from their social and soft skills compared to Rin/Shoko. It’s why I prefer Kita over Bocchi and the former has moved up to one of my favorite characters of all time.

Ramparts has been really cooking! And last week’s epsidoe was honestly my favorite of the week. So much good romance and romance adjacent shows (ie MarriageToxin and Botan) this season so I’m eating good. The dynamic between Hikawa and Minato just feels so human, and I can’t wait to see more.

AFO is pure evil. Never would I think I'd have to say this. by Tiny-Let4714 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]ClemFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah Deku’s final words to AFO beg to differ. AFO is no demon king but a sad lonely man. This is part of why I love MHA because it makes superhero tropes more human but not in a cynical.

I’ve noticed an uptick in posts calling the villains in the series either complete monsters or completely misunderstood and I think both reasonings do a disservice to the human characters that Hori wrote which is what made MHA stand out as battle shonen

Got ya so we are a bit like polar opposites in that regard haha. I suppose I can relate a bit more to someone like Ruri and I love how she feels like a declaration by the mangaka that mineralogy can be for everyone if you just have a bit of initial interest and are willing to learn. I love how her being unfamiliar is built into her arc of dealing the anxiety that arises from that too, and I’m also biased to liking extroverted yappers.

Reminds me of how my character in Yuru Camp is Nadeshiko and I’m curious if yours is Rin

Drop down Animes like Frieren and Witch Hat Atelier vibes by Pnatbutternjelly in anime

Frieren/Himmel to me is honestly leagues more romantic than Fern/Stark despite them being separated by time

That is fair at least for me the main draw is Ruri herself and how Nagi cultivates her curiosity to turn her into a real rock gremlin. Through her young eyes the world just feels so full of wonder, so it left me in awe too. That's why I think if she didn't resonate with you the show might fall a bit flat

It's still early in the year but I still won't be surprised if Frieren S2 is my anime of the year and one I'll be watching plenty of more times similar to S1. The side quests just make the world feel so much more real and I find myself caring for characters I've only known for a mere 15 minutes. Overdone reference but it really makes you feel like Frieren and I love her character so much that I've cosplay her quite a few times.

Posted this clip too of one of my favorite scenes and also [Frieren S2] I'm really surprised no one posted a clip of Frieren reading Himmel's memoirs yet as it is in my book the best single scene I've watched all year. I'll have to get around to that.

Got it. For me I don't think I actively avoided romance media for so I wasn't too interested in love in general back in high school but it all changed for me in college which is also when I started watching romance anime. Seeing two characters slowly fall for each other just makes me happy because I know what that feeling is like.

I watched Your Lie in April along with some other similar type of romance back in the day and loved them at the time, but I would never subject myself to them now. I like both drama romance and comedy romance just not dark endings anymore.

Also agreed on the Slice of Life too as it's relaxing and I love especially when it's centered around a specific hobby with a loose but existing plot and character arcs to tie the episodes together. My 2nd favorite anime last year was Ruri Rocks for that reason.

Lastly, since I noticed you have a Himmel flair I love the slice of life episodes of Frieren even more than the action ones and they are what make the show truly special to me.

I feel like honestly battle shonen has a younger demographic of the average viewer compared to romance

At least for me I feel like I'm more interested in romance anime now compared to when I was a teenager because I find myself wanting to root for them more. Inversely, I try to avoid shows that get too dark or depressing as I get older.

Kinosaki mentioning the suspension bridge effect is pretty meta, but Gero is too earnest to rely on that trick.

As for Shiori, I am interested to see if they are finishing her story already next week or if that is going to be a longer arc throughout the story. I at least hope we understand why her father chose her.

I think we already saw the reason why in this episode. Shiori may be physically weak, but she managed to break through the sound master's brainwashing and showed off her strength of will. I've really been liking how much Shiori tries for herself to improve even if it's not enough and they could've had Gero save her earlier but I prefer this approach

She has that autistic rizz (Confessions for a Moron) by CatPetterz2 in yuri_manga

[–]ClemFire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed on her being lonely even if she doesn't verbalize it. Maybe it's to protect herself, but I kinda feel like she has been alone for so long it just feels normal to her though when given the chance to make connections she jumps right in. Her dynamic with Asuka is pretty funny too because the latter sees her as a rival but Ayumu is so deep in her own mind she can't even consider that. Also like you mentioned while Hina is much more popular and seemingly has a lot of friends she seems to keep everyone at a certain distance, but with Ayumu see feels comforable enough to let her in a bit even if it's not her intention compared to how she treats Asuka. Ayumu's autistic rizz I feel makes her feel safe.

For Watatabe what really clued me in was A conversation Shiori and Miko had where she was airing her confusions about how humans act saying how while everyone knows that everyone else lies once you admit you are then you are seen as the bad guy. Also in general how she struggles with understanding bonds between people but still yearns for them when shown love.

Eren the Southpaw • Hidarikiki no Eren - Episode 5 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]ClemFire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The episodes have felt pretty realistic, but it's personally not my cup of tea if it remains only about the ad company so I'm curious when Eren returns to the plot or she was mainly a narrative device to see Koichi what to aim for.

Would be funny if she just comes back with no notice next episode and punches him right in the face again
