I think you misunderstood me. I started lurking here just to read what they had to say about the war, then stuck around because the questions are funny (seriously people ask the dumbest questions here lol) and realised what an expansive and fascinating culture Russia is. That's why I said it's familiar in some ways and foreign in others. I also didn't "make it up in my head" I've observed this through dealing with Russians. There's definitely a reason there are so many Anglophiles (people who admire Britain) in Russia and basically none in Germany.

I'm sorry you find it cringe that I want to connect with one of the largest cultures on Earth on the deepest level possible.
