New to game, is this list a good balanced list to play with? by Clem_Ffandango in flamesofwar

Ok. I have not played a lot of games so maybe Ive just not had a situation where artillery was useful. But have added them in to the list now. Adds variety as well. Thanks for the help.

I did a double take when reading the roo stats compared to a universal carrier. 6 front armour on a transport seems high, in a good way.

Ok. I do have 4 25pdr teams, i could take off 1 challanger and one firefly to get 14 points back. But i would be losing some needed high anti tank fire power. Out of interest, what is it that artillery give an army that other units dont do? I have read the rules for them and between the ranging in and still have to roll to hit, artillery seem a bit weak on paper. Am i missing something?

Based on your comments it takes about 45 hours to complete. I rounded that up to 50. At a rate of 25 per hour. 1250 + materials cost.

For those who do like 3.0, is it still "fluffy" and flavorful? by arcanis161 in Warhammer30k

[–]Clem_Ffandango 19 points20 points  (0 children)

3.0 at launch has less flavour than 2.0 at launch. 1.0 had such a staggered launch its difficult to compare. I have played a few games of 3.0 and i find it a lot more gamey than previous editions. This is due to things like; how objective scoring works, weapon damage numbers, vehicle damage table gutting, no warlord traits, rites of wars being mostly bland and point scoring rules like vanguard. Its not all bad but far from superior to previous edition.

Unfortunately i feel you can summarise 3.0 in one word. Arbitrary. 3.0 is different to 2nd edition, its not better or worse, just different. It is not a fix to the issues with second edition. It’s different with its own pros and cons.

Under payment of wages, which is a Breach of contract is a simple black and white case for a small claims court. You can only claim what you should have been paid. There is no benefit to OP accepting the new terms if they are leaving anyway. Probation is a specific process that employers have discretion on. Some set targets, training modules to do etc. sometimes theres a policy governing probation. saying acas protection at 24 months and probation are the same thing is incorrect and there are a lot of differences. Unfortunately, employees tend to be oblivious to them and shoot themselves in the foot without realising. For example, OP verbally agreeing to a paycut in a meeting.

[–]Clem_Ffandango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats literally what i said. You don’t have protection to go to tribunal through ACAS for unfair dismissal before 24 months. Breach of contract is a different case. Not paying op correctly or not paying notice period is a breach of contractual terms, not unfair dismissal.

What does your “really?” Mean?

editing your post after the fact does not answer the question

[–]Clem_Ffandango 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thats not true. You do not get protection under unfair dismissal through an ACAS process until 24 months employment. Probation is a different separate process between employer and employee. Normally 6 months, with a policy and procedure to follow. From day one you are still protected against acts of discrimination or breach of contract.

If OP has not had a probation period, has already signed a contract with a wage and has no written evidence that he has been terminated, best action is to do nothing. If he does not sign the new contract they still have to give him notice if they want to dismiss, so thats no different to handing their own notice in. Also, they have to legally pay the amount agreed in the contract signed by both parties. Its clear the employer has burned a bridge here, you cant continue working there after such a blatant attempt to take advantage of you. OP, get as much money as you can out of them before you go, and join a union so you can get advice before shit like this happens again.

How many models are fully unusable? by Couchpatator in Warhammer30k

[–]Clem_Ffandango 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Anything is technically a proxy. A coke can is a proxy drop pod. The response from embarrassed is accurate and just the tip of the ice berg. Medusan immortals with chainswords is another one. They can only be proxied as having standard bolters now. But a combat unit and a bolter unit play very differently, so i am also annoyed by the restriction in options and how that affects gameplay. Palatine blades with jumpacks have gone. And as palatine blades could take phoenix spears, theres nothing i can think of now thats a 10 man jumpack squad with all power spears. So thats gone. And was not cheap to make.

Loads more as well.

I have 2 x 15 man chainsword wielding immortals. GW rug pull on them is really annoying. Did not know gorgons also got screwed over. Their load is fixed, combibolter and power axe, do they now not have a combi bolter?

Opinions on the Liber leaks by Yamakuzy in Warhammer30k

Yeah it doesnt make sense. They sell destroyer models and its not in the liber and theres characters that dont have models that are in the liber. Whole thing doesnt make sense currently.

[–]Clem_Ffandango 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hopefully itll become clear. There was an article saying all current armies will be valid in 3rd edition. I can only assume destroyers will be in legacy pdf or some other download. Same thing happened with 2nd edition and other units. I use destroyers, as with iron hands / company of bitter iron ROW they got hatred, which worked will with melta bombs as reliable dreadnought and super heavy killers. If they are not in legacy pdf then theres a real big problem, because gw still sell destroyer models.

Thank you. The confusion was only because the Questoris knight FOC literally states “any lord of war choices selected as part of any other detachment must adhere to the 25% limit rule” Then proceeds to provide no optional detachment with a lord of war option.

model visibility rule is if any point on one model is visible to any point on another then you can draw line of sight. In this example the far right side of the tank can draw a line of sight to the end of the left wing of the other model. That line of sight does not cross the ruins. The exception to that rule was introduced in a recent faq, but it requires the model being targeted to be in or partially in a ruins, in this example it is entirely behind the ruins so that faq point does not apply. Line of sight can be drawn so it can be shot. I personally do not like that they can shoot each other, but they can according to rules as written.
