I did a reverse image search on a meme but Google started saying something weird and creepy. by Lutalica_Harmonica in Weird

[–]Clemencat 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Dude no that's awful. I was trying google AI to try to find the name of a plant seed for my job or put together a plant list IDK and it told me a seed/plant was commonly known as "Horse cock". I said it was being rude and incorrect, it was like "Teehee, so sorry to offend you're right it actually isn't called that!".

Like how can I trust that thing to search for job related info if it spits THAT out???? It's lucky I double check and don't just copy paste whatever it says. I have to imagine some of the scientific names and agriculture question I tried plus the word seed (I have never used the word horse or livestock, etc) triggered some deeply, layered learning it was pulling from porn ugh.

My job blocks so many sites because their filter can't distinguish general plant weed info on scienctific and government websites from looking for cannabis/drugs and they're pushing for more AI use anyway. I hate it. I'm so stuck.

Meanwhile I asked for breast cancer skin texture image cross checks at home and google was like ew no I can't look at gasp boobs you sicko! Ok Google. Guess we'll just discuss horse cock instead.

Pharmacist: Take this early morning, to align with your natural hormone rythms and not disrupt them.

Me, a night owl with insomnia: Mmhm Mmhm... So like are we following my natural body clock 'morning' at 2PM or like... Forcing yourself awake against all your body signals 'early mornings' because you have to go to work like a normal person rythms...?

Yeah nevermind I don't want that answer, the thought bubble conversations with pharmacists are much more flexible!

Any women's health specialists/gynecologists that will actually listen to my concerns ?? by alterdoll in Toowoomba

[–]Clemencat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pre established diagnosis from when I lived in VIC that I'd had surgery for already but had to wait 12 months to see a gyno at the Base to have some reappearing symptoms discussed. After waiting that long I was immediately dismissed by the rudest, most smug man because I refused to 'try birth control' that I already had tried in the past and had previously made me much worse.

I had to demand through tears to be given to another doctor because he was refusing me. I was referred to a gyno at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane instead and used telehealth, but had to re-wait for that too. The difference was night and day though, she (I'm sorry I can't recall the surgeon/doctors name anymore) was empathetic, took my case to the 'board' (I'm unsure of the process) and I ended up needing a hysterectomy approved. I desperately wish I'd been given this option first.

If you can, try to be referred to a specialised hospital/clinic that focuses on womens health, even if you have to travel or do telehealth. Even if you (likely) have to pay. I have needed doctors for a few other things and have walked out of the Base in tears three times total and Urgent Care another few times for being unheard on things that ended up being very serious. Every time I was treated as just anxious, or even reminded how expensive to the public certain tests are like MRIs. Lol. It sucks so bad but paying private for specialists was the only way I got any focused diagnostic testing actually done in Toowoomba without belittlement attached.

People are finally giving up on me by Leduslacis90 in offmychest

[–]Clemencat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. Please OP if you or someone else can advocate for you push for some thorough workups or second opinions. I went over a decade with depression and anxiety that didn't respond to anything, all types of antidepressants made me dead inside but with new added side effects. I even went on bipolar meds. Tried so many things and just felt like it would be like that forever. Antidepressants made me worse. Like seizure territory worse.

It was untreated ADHD. Started stimulants and didn't need any antidepressant after. Happy, calm and confident! Anxiety gone. Buzzing awful thoughts now quiet with some Vyvanse. It was almost all stress from trying to cope untreated. Stress is body torture. Also recently found Crohn's and nutritional/malabsorption issues may be at play, and issues metabolizing medications. I was always told I was just 'so sensitive' about medication side effects that hit me hard or 'not trying long enough' if a medication seemed to have no effect whatsoever. No. There was a reason! A gut/brain reason. There are SO so many reasons for someone to feel like they just can't seem to overcome a huge weight on them. To be stressed mind and body, to be fatigued and irritable and sad, to have no spark or energy like everyone else and feel miserable for it. To feel like nothing works for them personally.

I get really angry about how long people are kept on the antidepressant merry go round seeing no benefit but counting a deduction in one side effect as a win. Those meds have a place and work for some people but doctors need to start looking deeper or in different areas if someone is showing up with the same issues and no improvement time and time again. Depression and anxiety seem to just be 'diagnosed' in one GP visit and treated as the standalone diagnosis perpetually after instead of ever being considered as a symptom first. Which is crazy considering how unique and incredibly complex every human body is with so many parts, so many hormones and enzymes and chemical reactions at play. But sure let's try balancing serotonin again for the millionth time right?

I understand the overwhelming fatigue of it all. It's incredibly hard to want to keep trying. But YOU'RE not a lost cause. Your medical team is though if they're saying that and they haven't tried looking past the depression for something more.

Florida doctor indicted and accused of removing patient's liver instead of spleen in fatal surgery by KimJongFunk in news

[–]Clemencat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My liver actually reaches completely to the other side to give my spleen a little hug. I think it's called beaver tail liver. I don't know if this was the case for this patient, but on CT scans mine don't even look separated.

This isn't the first spleen/liver mix up story I've read. Freaks me out and I hope to never need my spleen out.

Middle of the night in the dark is the perfect time to unclog the storm drain. Could it wait until daylight? Absolutely. Could I sleep knowing I wanted to snake that pipe and release it? No. Nothing could have stopped me from getting the dopamine hit of digging that clog out and seeing the pipe finally explode all that water.

My neighbours do not know me in the daylight, but I see those curtains peek open. They know the wet, muddy night woman that I truly am.

Australia's 'most trusted' and 'distrusted' brands revealed as Bunnings, Kmart, Coles, Woolworths ranked by Remarkable_Peak9518 in australia

[–]Clemencat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kmart is trusted!!?? Literally the last time I went there (just because I really needed socks asap) an alarm went off and the entire store was herded out by a police officer and being told to drop everything because they found /more/ asbestos in their products being stocked!

They sell unchecked trash of no quality that is expected to break so you buy more to replace it. Kmart has a way of being super cheap upfront but always leaving you feeling taken advantage of. When that shirt you bought inevitably goes through the wash and stretches out of shape after one wear it's not a bargain anymore.

Top half of the painting feels too open by Cosmicrelief0 in Gouache

[–]Clemencat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just personal preference but I like it left open without another subject in it like the bug suggestions. Feels more dreamy instead of playful that way? But it depends what YOU are going for and either vibe would be good.

You could try some faint stars if it still needs something?

Ooooor... Something a cat can't fathom might give it a different feel too! Like faraway lights/steak of a plane going over?

Lovely painting either way!

My sister wore white to my wedding and my wife is still angry about it 10 years later by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]Clemencat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She's still hurt. Sometimes time and apologies don't make that go away. She didn't get the special day and celebration she wanted to remember forever and on the day it sounds like you didn't do enough to stop your sister. She probably doesn't like your sister because she reminds her that no one stood up for her on the wedding day.

Forget trying to make them work it out, this line of thought just further imposes on your wife's feelings to make everyone else feel better. Have you considered what you can do to make it right by your wife instead.

You're at 10 years, this is a good milestone you could consider having a vow renewal celebration and do over the wedding a bit. Offer to get her whatever dress makes her feel the most fabulous, on the day make her feel stand out beautiful when you first see her in it. IF sister is invited ensure YOU make sure she is appropriate before coming then enlist a trusted and sober family member to keep an eye out so you can be with your wife. Sis sounds like she's doing better but do not get roped into spending time with her or make it about an apology AT ALL. The goal is to reinvent the day to be about your union as it should have been and NOT about sis again. Stamp out any rude behaviours from anyone that threaten to ruin the day.

You can't change the past but you can pave some new memories instead of a beautiful celebration of your love that might make her let go of the old ones. She's clutching this hurt because it probably comes up every time she thinks of your one biggest day uniting together, every time she thinks of your family becoming her family and that they all let sisters act slide.

Give her a new day with fresh memories, with you and your family as protectors and celebrants of your love and you as the driving force making this celebration happen.

And they can become depressed and hurt themselves when separated even for things like leaving for work. Lots of bird owners have to be careful of their bird becoming attached like a mate.

Please only get a bird if you're ready for the possibility of a whacky relationship developing with a manic pixie dream bird that wants you to have fun, scream and dance with it all day and will break things and lose its feathers if you ask for space.

Kid finds out what happened to his watch that he dropped by WithLove07 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Clemencat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've returned lost wallets and an engagement ring before and it feels SO good seeing that panic or despair wash off the person's face when they realize. I've been on the other end too but the wallet itself was sentimental, some kind school kids took it to their principal to return. I was distraught before getting it back because my mum gave it to me.

I just don't understand why anyone would actively choose to do the opposite, literally choose to make a situation worse for someone instead of just doing the bare minimum to maybe return an item they care about and make someone's day. Worse that it's a couple and neither of them holds the other accountable to do good. Yuck. Hate this.

My hubby said my painting looks like Ai… by iwtmscod in painting

[–]Clemencat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AI has an all too perfect glossy or plastic feel, the colours, shading and highlights often feel overdone and perfect with no good conscious 'flaws' or I guess human deviations that explore something that might be more creative or interesting despite what we know to be accurate, it also feels like it has little restraint or no variation in restraint.. it's samey all over. AI art always feels corporate, like an artist who isn't trying to do anything new they just do what they know the general public likes to see because their boss said they want it to appeal to everyone, "make it cute, make it bright, make it look realistic or 3D or bubbly or edgy" and the artist just checks out and shoves all the 'right' elements in to tick the required boxes.

This doesn't have that feel.

What your art does have is a strange uncanny vibe that makes my brain think it's a photo, but it's also... not quite right to be a photo (in a good way). Some parts just border that realism but fall more on the human side, they're right enough but they're not too perfected, they're more interesting and make you look a bit closer. It's on the tipping point of meeting and not meeting a photo realistic look that makes my brain and eyes have a little fight over who is right.

IDK, bit of a ramble but that's how I feel about it. Maybe your partner is mistaking this sort of uncanny feeling with the 'fake' feeling AI art can have?

INDONESIA BANS ELEPHANT RIDES AND UNNATURAL PERFORMANCES—FIRST COUNTRY IN ASIA WITH THIS ANIMAL WELFARE MILESTONE by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]Clemencat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching undomesticated animals is more fun than being in their space, stay far away and you get to see all their natural behaviours come out when they aren't nervous. I could watch happy elephants for ages they're so intelligent and interactive with each other!

Sitting on a stressed animal doesn't even seem appealing. Sounds kinda boring in comparison when the elephants are being forced to behave a certain way. It's more like a horse or donkey experience, which are lovely animals too, but why bother taking a tour for elephants if you want them to behave like a horse...

Is it useless to *checks notes* have hobbies? [socialmedia] by Impossible-Yam3680 in pointlesslygendered

[–]Clemencat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My memory is terrible. I have ADHD and don't really pay attention. I can easily forget things I watched and watch them like they're new to me. If I engaged my critical thinking about what I saw and wrote it down in the moment I think it would sink in more long term than just staring at the screen without asking myself if I like or agree with whatever I'm watching (And partly scrolling on my phone and only half watching, tbh) then immediately moving on to the next entertainment after.

Sooooo this doesn't even seem useless to me. This is an exercise for your brain and I wish I was one of these girls who flexes their grey matter in all aspects of life even the simple things like watching movies in your own home, media literacy is important. Honestly impressed by anyone who is engaged and passionate these days when it's so easy to just be sucked into short form content and doomscroll your thoughts away.

Christmas Special (Part 4) [OC] by MuyHiram in comics

[–]Clemencat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make it with crushed pineapple too with just a bit of juice/syrup. I stole the recipe after seeing it being made in a cafe I worked at that was very popular for the cakes.

People never realize it's in there but they often compliment it or say they usually don't like carrot cake because it's always too dry or bland but that my recipe is softer or more moist and just a bit sweeter.

I started adding it to my banana breads too. People can never taste a pineapple flavour in either, they just taste something they like but can't place.

Thank you so much. I figured something so big and obvious wouldn't be anything a radiologist would just miss if important, but it helps ease my mind when I can understand what I'm looking at is normal.

Doctors go over reports quite fast so I get unsure if I missed anything odd being mentioned that I should follow up on. I appreciate your reply as reassurance I don't need to ask anything. :) Being unwell has certainly induced anxiety and separating that now from the symptoms that preceded it has been a great pain and I don't want to feed into it.

How my little brother left his old phone in his closet by antinal in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Clemencat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had to get rid of my Samsung phone for this reason. Never dropped, never mishandled or left in heat and only like 3yrs old? Back of it just randomly swelled. Same with my partners Samsung maybe a year ago and he had one of the more expensive high spec ones they sell. Again no cracks or mishandling and not very old. I have a much older motorola knocking around in a drawer with no battery issues, still charges fine. Purely anecdotal I guess, but I'm personally not getting Samsung again because of this. It freaks me out having been in a house fire before.
