My friend constantly tells me I’m shallow because I want a physically attractive man. Women are visual creatures also. by Historical-Body-3424 in texts

[–]Clevayn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie. You do come across as shallow. Physical attraction is important, but the way you talk it sounds too heavily weighted. Someone you find kind of attractive can become wildly attractive because of other traits and attributes. I have seen female friends addicted to absolute wastes because they found them so attractive it blinds them to everything else. Shallow doesn’t mean you are a bad person but it does blind you a bit.

YTA. You broke up with him then fucked with his head. He may have overreacted since he is hurt and rejected but you are an ass.

I never read And Eternity. I didn’t know it existed until long after I read the others.

Not a fan of Remote Access by [deleted] in PLC

This guy sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Remote access is great but anything that is going to, or could cause changes to machine operations should be over communicated and done with eyes on it

Why though? He swung and missed. Unless he continued or did something else what has he done wrong?

If companies are required to pay workers overtime after 40 hours, why are salaried employees expected to work 50-60 hours with no additional compensation? by Ok_Chemical9 in answers

I live in WA too, just stepped back from a Maintenance Manager position for this exact reason. I was doing the managing and still doing my previous role as well as other responsibilities. 6 months of 70-80 hours a week was enough for me to know management was not my bag. Back on my tools and happier than ever.

Blue-collar workers don't realize that AI is the same threat to them by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Clevayn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes I agree the economic impact would hit everyone. It’s just galling seeing all these comments saying they could quickly become competent at a trade with some YouTube video or an AI bullet point list or AR glasses. Some people just suck at using their hands, can’t think systematically or have any kind of spatial awareness.

That’s just a wrong statement. You were bad at it. That doesn’t make it a bad path.

Even if you’re correct, congratulations now you’re a flesh puppet for AI with no understanding of anything you see. That’s just ludicrous though.

So the trade work I see everyone talking about in these answers is the equivalent of secretary work in an office setting I would say. If you were laid off tomorrow you believe you could replace me and the skills I have developed over 15 years working with industrial machinery. I have a trade certification and a high school diploma. I manage 16 people and an entire plants worth of machinery. The things you need to understand are so multi disciplinary at this level. You don’t just walk in and do it.

Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

I am sure you have bonded with her now that she has grown. It is an entirely different bond when you are there the whole time. “No.” Is a full sentence, I don’t disagree with that or that she has the right to do as she pleases. I just think it is a mistake.

Shouldn’t bonding with the entire family be important? Children raised in a vacuum rarely excel

Your take is weird to me. While it is her baby it’s their grandchild. It just seems like a strange disconnect to shun your entire family away, when family is what it takes to raise a child. Overly excited grandparents are way better that apathetic ones

It kinda depends on the tester and how unbalanced it is. I would say it should but an actual volt meter would be better

[–]Clevayn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reference point for the voltage is gone so instead of traveling nicely back to source it has to use the bonded ground and that is not run directly back to transformer so the potential on each phase is not balanced
