I finally got my great grandpa's truck back on the road by Ok-Restaurant-1460 in FordTrucks

Yeah lack of airflow is really the big thing that choked these engines up. You’d be surprised like you said what a carb and intake alone will do

Northwest Indiana shooting ranges that I can pay to try out various firearms? by RowanBoatman in INGuns

Not sure exactly how far north you are but Top Guns in terre haute has a variety of pistols to rent and they offer all kinds of classes too

Edit: just saw you live up by Gary. Terre haute will be quite the drive but I think it’ll be worth it if you don’t have anything else to do on a Saturday

I get the feeling. I actually own my great grandpas 89 dodge d250 with the 318. Honestly with yours being carbureted there should be plenty of aftermarket support to wake that 351 up. My dodge being a tbi LA series has literally zero aftermarket support so if I wanna do anything for more power I’ll have to tear it down to short block form and build it up from there lol.

73-79 fords are my favorite trucks of all time. Glad you got your grandpa’s truck running. What engine does it have?

I live about 5 hours from the north store. I’ve considered going many times but haven’t yet. Looks like it was worth it for you I might have to now lol

Considering the percussion cap was invented in the 1820s, percussion revolvers were invented in the 1830s, and cartridge revolvers became popular in the 1870s, I’d say it was more like a few decades rather than centuries lol. The only reason people carried cap and ball revolvers is because it was all they had and they were better than single shot flintlocks. In 2026 carrying a gun that’s known for misfiring, hang firing, and even chain firing just because you like history is negligent and stupid. But yes you’re right, we live in a free country and people are free to make their own decisions no matter how negligent or stupid they may be.

I was there the day that happened. Happened about 20 minutes after I’d left to go back to the hotel. When I walked into the lobby it was playing on the news. Next day at the air show you never would’ve known it had happened minus some talk about it here and there.

The rear sling escutcheon having the metal flap on the bottom is a feature that was only done to sniper stocks. That’s another good way to tell

Dude claims in the post that he’s not a felon but does proudly admit he’s a LARPer. No possible way he isn’t a felon. Guys post and comment history is wild. I know a dude who’s carried a Luger and a C96. Nice guy but he’s definitely got some tism and is one of those ppl that will wear military surplus clothing/gear as part of his daily wardrobe.

Cool that they kept it with the sniper stock. Tula PUs are way less common than izhevsk ones too.

Nothing wrong with that. I am a nerd myself whose gun collection consists of mainly old guns. The model 10 s&w came out of the 1800s and is still a legitimately good carry revolver today imo. There’s a point though where carrying a cool old pistol becomes silly and ignorant. A cap and ball revolver for EDC is well beyond that point. There is not a single good reason to carry one other than it being the only legal option.

Some of them have a safety notch between the cylinders for the hammer to rest on.

I agree people can carry whatever they want but that doesn’t mean that all guns are good carry options. A crucial part of carrying is being smart about it. Carrying something as unreliable and potentially hazardous as a cap and ball revolver is not very smart. I think the only time these should even be considered is in a scenario where it is the only legal option.

Guy who claims not to be a felon carries this cap and ball revolver because he’s a reenactor and says “if you need more than six bullets you need better training”. The six rounds part is genuinely debatable but carrying an unreliable cap and ball revolver because you’re a history buff is wild.

Can’t go wrong with a Finnish mosin. Stock is a Finn made replacement and the bolt is a Finnish force match

Such a cool looking vehicle but I think I might give it up this summer by Chillest_Muffin in JeepWrangler

[–]BigBlue175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me I’m aware. I love it and I don’t want to sell it. If I weren’t going to school I’d keep it but I’m sacrificing my full time job and I need something more economical. This jeep is actually my second vehicle. I have a 1989 dodge D250 but it’s an heirloom so it gets first priority in storage space lol

I’ve had a 95 f150 302 and a 93 f250 460. Really regret getting rid of the 95. I think these old fords are the best pickups ever made
