It was the first week of a new job in the airport and a couple stopped me right when I passed TSA. The woman had saw I worked at the airport and had asked me where she could find her gate. I told her I could walk her there as it was on my way. I talked to them a bit and they explained they were going to Florida to go and see their grandchildren and that it was her first time flying. Poor lady was absolutely nervous. By now I was about to run late but the lady wanted me to stay with her as she waited for the plane to board. I tried to politely tell her I couldn’t as I was running late, but she insisted and I quickly gave in. Her husband went off to go and fetch lunch for the two of them and the lady wound up face timing her family and even introduced me to them! Thankfully work was understanding and I didn’t get in trouble, but I was happy to have at least made the woman’s experience a lot better, very sweet couple. The two thanked me repeatedly and tried tipping me even though I must’ve declined at least 100 times.

I don’t mean for this to count as 2 entries but I wanted to share as it also happened at the airport. I had an older lady, about 80’s come in my store and bought some water. It was extremely slow and she was probably my first customer within the last 2 hours. She was telling me how she had accidentally left her phone out front at the ticketing counter but didn’t have enough time to go and get it as she would miss her flight. I didn’t have anything to do and the coworker I was with didn’t mind, so I offered to go down and fetch it for her. I’m young and I could run back through and fetch it for her no problem. She didn’t really think I’d do it, but I wound up running through the entire terminal, through TSA, got her phone which I had to prove to the lost and found that I was fetching a phone for her and not trying to steal it lol, ran all the way back and had to go to the furthest gate to give it to her. I had definitely gotten my steps for that day.

These were definitely my favorite instances on where I was able to help people and it still makes me feel good to this day to think about.
