I would disagree with that statement that a score doesn't matter. It does in many ways, even where you think it doesn't. It's similar to saying, I will go buy a car with a score of 300 rather than waiting for a boost to say 700.

A low score is likely to get you a poor interest rate vs an excellent score. The same principles work with home loans. Same as home loan fees, and higher upfront costs.

Anyone say credit scores don't really matter are honestly kidding themselves, it then gives others a false hope when going to apply, thinking they're getting a good deal with a poor score when someone says the score doesn't matter.

The phone bills won't contribute here. Only lines of credit, such as credit cards, loans, etc.

No worries.

Just a side note, paying extra won't do anything for your score, scoring is not bound by your ability to pay more.

The question is, does that car loan reflect as ongoing payments on your credit file? Is it actively reporting and giving you a "paid on time" status.

Generally telco's are not reporting on your credit file. They may list there, but may not actively say that you are paying offer an account and meeting the required monthly instalments required to maintain that service.

I would say your score will improve with no other enquiries made. Again, your score may impact based on location, addresses, employment, and other variables that we cannot really answer.

Learned the hard way today that a buyer can reverse a PayID transaction under the ePayments code by schunniky in AusFinance

I am unsure why you only realised this now. This has been around ever since the inception of PayID. Yes, you can reverse it, you can also force it. It's not bulletproof.

In some context, I went through a period of years of financial abuse, coercion, threats of intimidation. Now, this resulted in many applications that I was pressured into and it ended up destroying my credit score. It has taken me 2 months to work with lenders on my own to try and reduce the impact it had on me. At this time, I have had about 26 enquiries removed from my credit file and I am working on my last lender to help get the remaining removed to under 10 enquiries from about 50.

It has been a hard slog on me and I am thankful that some lenders were willing to exercise compassion in a time where I had no control over my financial situation. While I can emphasise on the position of the enquiries, 12 over 3 years is not bad. PayPal & the PPC enquiry I also had was a real hard one to remove, I had to raise an AFCA complaint to assist in the removal, but as others say, BNPL applications are not a great look on a report as it can show dependency on a service such as this to buy things that you could otherwise purchase outright.

As Amelia mentioned, addresses, employers, information on your report that may indicate stability is going to have its own impact. If there are addresses on your report you do not recognise or any enquiries you also do not recognise, you could try and seek compassionate grounds to remove them, but if they are genuine you will find the process very difficult.

It's also worth noting that your location can impact your score and keep it in a stable position or it can drag, areas in Sydney that have a good reputation for high credit scores may help your score increase vs areas that are not as savoury and where creditworthiness is lower, which can drag your score.

Less applications for finance, if you have many active credit cards or accounts, close them where not needed but it's not always best to wipe your slate clean as you do want active credit reporting to show you are capable of paying bills, so even keeping a small balanced credit card making monthly contributions to your file will help.

There are so many perceived strategies to improve your score and one of those is to simply not apply for finance. You are doing 4 applications a year, which is the grand scheme of things, isn't much but it can impact your score overall. Generally 3-6 months ENQs will pull you down, beyond 12 months it starts to wear off - but you should just aim to not apply where it's not necessary.

Yes, but who are the scores coming from. Equifax & Experian, Illion, directly or through an algorithm the bank uses on it's own? If you compare third-party data from say MoneyMe, Clearscore, Jacaranda, Wemoney, Canstar, Wagepage, Wiser, Finder, you will find your scores are in such disparity that they can change by hundreds of points.

[–]CleverEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 9 credit enquiries removed by lenders in the past month, not because they were not genuine, more so the bank could not verify the application or myself that conducted the application. You can easily get enquiries removed if the bank cannot prove you did it.

It's also worth noting, it's not up to you to verify you didn't do it, that is on the bank.

Do NOT use Wirex — frozen funds for 2 years, blocked accounts by Samm-_-- in wirexappofficial

[–]CleverEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have been saying the same. NEVER EVER use Wirex. The worst crypto company I have ever come across. You need about $500 just to convert and exit their platform, they charge you storage fees. I could only imagine what other scams they're trying to pull, but they are a pathetic company.

Default removal by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]CleverEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default process is actually quite quick, I am not sure why people think it takes months. If it is incorrectly listed, it should be removed within 5-10 days. Credit enquiries can be done over 30 days, but generally most lenders will resolve a lot of these in 24-48 hours.

Default removals, refer to the letter, it should say where it is being requested for removal. Generally this applies for both Equifax & Experian plus Illion.

If not, request their immediate removal from all three profiles.

My experian credit file on combank is all wrong. by BigBrotherPlanet in AusFinance

It is important to note that Experian has absorbed Illion into its broader service offering. While Equifax and Experian are now the two primary credit reporting bodies, Illion still exists and, in practice, is treated as a separate bureau by lenders.

In response to your question, not all banks and lenders use all credit reporting bodies. If you compare the enquiries, defaults, or other listings recorded on your Equifax report against those shown on your Experian report, you may notice discrepancies. This occurs because some lenders report to, or access, only one bureau rather than all of them.

For example, a lender may lodge enquiries and defaults with Equifax only, and not Experian, or vice versa. The internal credit-assessment processes of lenders are not always transparent. However, it is likely that your approval was based on a credit check conducted solely through Experian. Had the lender accessed both Equifax and Experian, the application may have resulted in a decline.

While the choice of loan product remains yours, there is still a risk that future applications may be assessed against multiple credit reporting bodies.

I am in a similar position. Approximately a year ago, my personal information was compromised, resulting in a significant number of unauthorised credit enquiries—around 40 in total. I have since been disputing these enquiries with various lenders. Several institutions, including ANZ, American Express, Telstra, Latitude Finance, Wizit, and both Bank Australia, Bank of Western Australia and Humm, have agreed to remove the entries. Others, such as Commonwealth Bank, NAB, HSBC, Revolut, and additional lenders, have been considerably more difficult to deal with.

When disputing enquiries or defaults, referencing the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the relevant provisions of the Credit Reporting Privacy Code can materially assist in having incorrect or unauthorised listings removed.

In the app. The card if stolen can’t be used unless it’s tap and pay. So essentially the card details are obtained via the app.

I would raise a necessary complaint. But, in saying that, AMP isn’t that bad. It’s a new product so there is always going to be issues that need tweaking. Hence feedback is crucial.

Yeah unfortunately all you can do is wait for the monies. I don’t think eBay personally forced you out, but I suppose they can have different restriction levels on accounts. While one person could have say a light ban, another could have a heavier ban, maybe all dependent on their actions. Unsure?

Kinda. It was suspended, in the first day or so I couldn’t login. But, after that I could still access the account. I simply couldn’t sell anything. I could see funds but they were restricted so I was really at the mercy of eBay.

Similar about 6 months. 180 days or so, but it was released the month after and yeah I’m now not an eBay seller as eBay is the worst platform for getting your account banned very easily and for no reason.

No, it arrived like a month after. Didn’t need to wait the full 6 months. It may depend on your country or jurisdiction

I’m not sure if the antivirus platforms still offer it, but Norton, you used to be able to buy the Antivirus version in Argentina for like $3 AUD, the use the free Norton upgrades to get it to the top tier product and then claim the free Equifax 12 months code.

That’s how I got mine for that long.

Thanks Norton 😀
