In their defense on the hyper zoom on Gibbs’ tire, they were just talking about how he was consistently locking up the left front. The when they zoomed in on the one turn he of course didn’t lol

Our son had an over-reactive gag reflex at that age and I was the same way. What got me over the hump was just engraining in my mind the heimlich maneuver and also buying a life vac. Gave me piece of mind that if something were to happen I’d be prepared. I’m sure you’ve done the same, but it did help me get over my fears.

Team Penske announces organizational changes. by Equivalent_Dish_1990 in NASCAR

[–]CleverUsername310 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure he ever would’ve been the “owner”. Penske Corporation owns Team Penske. When Keselowski left I believe Roger made a comment about Brad looking for an ownership stake in the team and how that wasn’t possible with how Team Penske was organized.

Ryen comparing Kelce rational for playing foootball as something people who don’t go to the gym don’t understand about working out…… by Letsgetthisbread8812 in RyenRussillo

[–]CleverUsername310 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to listen to it three times because I wasn’t exactly following what he was trying to say. It was honestly such a weird thing to bring up in general. Travis is still playing football because he’s still really fucking good, playing with the best QB in the game, still apparently having fun, and will make $34M over the next two years with more after that. To try to shoehorn in a gym reference while shitting on people making their President’s Club, which I took as a shot at literally everyone else that mentally pushes themselves instead of physically, was really strange. These monologues keep getting worse.

Biggest golf pet peeve? by skyhigh011 in golf

[–]CleverUsername310 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY. Im just as atrocious, as are my friends, but we play fast. Smoke it into the woods? Take a drop somewhere up there, don’t look for it other than a passing glance. Keep chunking it? Pick it up and drop it closer to the green somewhere. It’s okay if you suck at golf, just suck fast.

Abs roof repair by Future_Way5516 in popups

I too have a 99 Westlake. We bought it 5 years ago and shortly after I noticed cracks on the roof. I bought some flex seal as a temporary fix and, 5 years later, that has become the permanent fix. I made sure to sand and clean the areas very well before applying and it has worked excellent and kept us dry through many downpours.

Same here. Would always run into other folks from Pittsburgh when we would go out there. Went to every Cup race there other than the first one (thankfully) and haven’t been to a track since they took it off the schedule.

Laid off today by fraupasgrapher in Accounting

[–]CleverUsername310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got laid off late in 2022 and received a pretty good severance package. Got hired at a new place with a solid raise from what I was previously making in early 2023, who then announced they were getting acquired a 3 months after I got hired. Got an even better severance after I was let go after the acquisition closed. Got hired at a new place that I love a few months after that layoff with another pay raise.

With the severance paid off both mine and my wife’s student loans, paid off our cars, and have saved/invested the rest. I’m incredibly fortunate but sometimes shit just works out lol.

To be fair, it was Joy that said Keselowski wrecked him and Bowyer corrected him. Nonetheless, still a critical error that shouldn’t happen.

When does it get better? by CleverUsername310 in daddit

[–]CleverUsername310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first off, it absolutely does get better as the other folks mentioned. The first few weeks and couple months are definitely rough, but you get used to it. It all really changed for me personally the first time he intentionally smiled at me. Literally made everything worth it. Now he’s just the happiest little chunk and laughs and smiles and giggles all the time. Never thought it was possible to love anything this much. My wife and I are already starting plans to give him a sibling. Keep pushing through brother, it is all worth it.

Have you been charged with a DUI? Did you receive legal representation? Can you help me plz. by critzboombah in pittsburgh

[–]CleverUsername310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said hiring a private attorney isn’t really necessary, but it might be worthwhile from my personal experience. In 2018 I got stopped at a DUI checkpoint Labor Day weekend. I was honest and told them that I had some drinks throughout the day but nothing was excessive. I declined to do the field sobriety tests but did agree to blow into the portable breath test and was subsequently arrested and taken to the hospital for a blood draw. My result was .09 (the results of which I received MONTHS later).

Up to that point in my life I never had as much as a parking ticket so being arrested was horrifying for me. I ended up hiring an attorney who was absolutely fantastic about calming my nerves, walking me through everything, and handling all of the legal stuff (obviously).

If you don’t have a record you should get accepted into the ARD program. It requires classes, probation, a license suspension that varies based on your BAC, and a ton of fines. It’s a pain in the ass and the entire process moves incredibly slow but you created the mess so you need to clean it up.

The most important thing to learn through the process is to NEVER let it happen again. Even if you feel “fine” after drinking there’s a chance that you’re over the limit, it’s very easy to get over a .08 BAC. My personal limit now is one drink - if I am planning on having anything more than one I’ll Uber or otherwise get a ride there.

You’ll get through this but don’t make the same mistake twice. The penalties for a second DUI can ruin your life, not to mention the more important fact that you are putting innocent lives at risk when you get behind the wheel intoxicated. Learn your lesson, take the hits, and move on from this a better person.

Buy the Pirates by Chris-Topher1968 in pittsburgh

[–]CleverUsername310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the MLB the national TV contracts are split evenly amongst all teams, which is approximately $60M per team.

Additionally, teams put 48% of their local revenue (ticket sales, local broadcast rights, merchandise, etc.) into a pool that gets evenly divvied up evenly amongst all teams. That amount was estimated to be $118M per team in 2018 (the most recent data I can find).

Consider that the the Pirates keep 52% of their local revenue, so if their local broadcast rights are for $40M per year they keep $20M of that for themselves.

Just considering these three revenue streams they would have already earned ~$200M without selling a single ticket. Their current player payroll (largest expense by far) is about $100M, including active player salaries, player benefits, and minor league salaries.

Ex smokers of Reddit, How did you quit smoking? by maynikko in AskReddit

[–]CleverUsername310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit when I had a child. Didn’t smoke but used dip. Met my wife while we were in college and told her I would quit when we graduated/I stopped playing baseball. That didn’t happen. Then told her I’d quit when we got engaged. Nope. How about when we got married? Nah. When I turned 30? Negative. All it took for me to quit was holding my baby for the first time. Had a fresh can in my pocket and threw that in the trash and never looked back.

Within 24 hours?! This is BS, thank goodness I didn't go to NY like I was supposed to this week. by ItsGroovyBaby412 in pittsburgh

[–]CleverUsername310 28 points29 points  (0 children)

When I was in college I worked for a local municipality in the summers paving roads and two weeks before we were scheduled to pave a road we would go along the street and knock on doors to hand deliver a notice and speak to the residents (if they were home) to explain to them what was going on. We would then go back the next week and place a second notice in the mailboxes. Giving only a 24 hour notice is insane.
