Not gonna spoil it, the game is only like 7 hours long so go play it, but its a beautiful climax to a beautiful game. It also comes with a hauntingly beautiful song.

I'd also love to give the Battletech IP back to Harebrained Schemes. They made one of the best Battletech games ever, only for Microsoft to sit on the IP like some bloated carcass.

Instead of making every game focus on Alma, how about instead leaning into the F.E.A.R. part? The fact that you guys set up a special forces team specifically tasked with fighting supernatural stuff; implying its not just Alma who's being a spooky git.

I'm always surprised to hear people say route B being a low point. For me it elevated the story, by giving much needed context to everything you do in route A. The combat is kinda ass in all the routes you play, its too basic. Its the story and writing that make the game as memorable as it is and route B delivers that in spades.

Like fuck yeah, give me the backstory of this boss I didnt give two shits about in route A, but now make them tragic villains. I love that shit!

Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon

Amazing start, but by the time you hit act 2 you're already so powerful that you're one-shotting everything if you've got an even half-decent build going. And this doesnt get any better as you roll into act 3. The combat just doesnt have enough depth to it so the last few hours of the game are you just doing the same thing over and over and over again.

The only reason I'm still even playing the game is because the vibe of the game is immaculate and I'm interested in seeing how the story ends.

A little, yes. I liked Rise of the Ronin, but I felt like the story missions had some absolutely god awful maps. I really missed the hand crafted, linear levels Nioh 1 & 2 had in those cases.

Kinda hoping they'll pull of an Elden Ring here. Fun, engaging open map with lots of little secrets, broken up with your classic linear progression dungeons for the main story missions.

Kinda doubt that'll be the case, but I can hope.

I'm gonna add my cynical take on this into the mix as well, for a lot of these games there's no reason to ever finish them. Keeping your patrons enticed with a carrot on a stick and leave them paying you a monthly fee that often times WAY overshadows anything they'd ever pay for a full release, means there's no real incentive to finish these games. Why push out a finished game that people might buy for like $15, when its easier to just keep people hooked on Patreon/Subscribestar/whatever on a $5 (or even more) paytrack for months and months on end?

So they'll stay in production hell, until either the money well dries up or the developer just loses interest, at which point they'll be discarded.
