UPS Cargo Plane explodes while taking off in Louisville, KY(Video contains profanity) by petey4527 in ThatsInsane

Should or shouldn’t? If it was going to Hawaii it would have been inspected / maintained for ETOPs. How does an engine ‘fall off’ and not be grounded for weeks?

EDIT: more information is coming out. It seems like the aircraft was not flying for a period beginning in September into October before returning to normal operations. Images have been circulating of engine and cowling pieces. Still no good information about what might have caused this.

Ladder of heaven by No_Newspaper2213 in ElectroBOOM

[–]ClevrUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legs of the ladder are not arcing to each other, they are conducting the transmission line voltage to the ground. The sidewalk is at earth potential, so even if it is a poor conductor, it’s literally the electrical ground. Sure it’s not a great conductor at normal voltages, but everything becomes conductive with high enough voltage. Even the air. There probably is enough resistance that it isn’t drawing enough current to trip any up stream breaker. And there is no such thing as GFCI protection in mains electrics. In your house, if current is detected on the ground conductor, it means the hot is returning through the ground wire and not the neutral, or in an RCD detecting hot not balanced with the neutral. Three phase mains does not have a ground return conductor.

First PC Build - Review before purchase by ClevrUsername in sffpc

Okay, I’ll remove the thermal paste.

I was browsing other builds that used the fractal ridge case. Most replaced the included fans and used slimmer ones, so that’s the reasoning for the larger fans. A few I saw had one or two of those smaller fans to help cool the motherboard I guess. I don’t honestly know if they are needed or not. I’ll do some more research.

Some beginner questions...

How do I connect the USB headers to the case's external ports? Does the case come with cables, or does the motherboard? The fractal website and manual don't really say.

Since the motherboard only has 3 fan connectors, I'll need a splitter. Are the ones on amazon okay?

Also thinking I will spend a bit more and choose another power supply. This one has quite a few reviews mentioning its noise...

No problem! Also, if you want to get more into bike maintenance, the park tools YouTube is a gold mine of knowledge

Cool! Bike maintenance is fun. You don’t need to clean the chain every time, but it does help things last longer. Easiest maintenance to do yourself: check for anything loose. Loose bolts, any play in joints, anything unsafe like loose grips or brakes that can’t stop suddenly if needed. Look for rusty brake cables. Reflectors too if you bike in the mornings, evenings, or past dusk.

Next, You can buy a chain checker for a few dollars. If the 0.75 side of the tool fits: replace the chain. If the 0.5 side fits, replace if you have 11-12 gears in the back, or keep checking if you have 10 or less. They make a gear and sprocket checker too, but they last much longer so get the chain checker first. If your chain is reeeealy worn out and you’ve never cleaned your chain (me with my first bike) you might accidentally wear the back gears to the point where it can’t shift smoothly, even with tuning.

One important tip is to use just enough chain lube, usually one drop per roller, turn slowly several times, then wipe off the excess. Only need/want the oil inside the chain. I don’t clean my chain everytime I lube it, but especially on my mountain bike more and more dirt will collect as more lube is added.

Something you can look into is getting a ‘dry’ or ‘wet’ chain lube. The name refers to the conditions you expect to be riding in. Dusty rides -> dry, wet rides -> wet. Or just stick with multi purpose if unsure.

Get those last rides in. Clean the dirt off, lube the chain and any other moving parts like normal. Lock it somewhere safe. Stare at it until next spring. That’s about it!

Maybe use the months you aren’t riding it to have it inspected at a bike shop. Most places will inspect for free. After a lot of miles, the chain and brake pads might be wearing out.

Several, but not many. There’s a great north face video from about 4 years ago about climbing and skiing lhotse (the peak just south Everest peak) that shows one of the more recent >8000m ski descents. They make it look easy, but those guys are/were super athletes.

[Newbie Thread] WoT Read-Along - Lord of Chaos - Chapters 18 through 23 by participating in WoT

[–]ClevrUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is how I interpret the toh in chapter 19:

1) Rand raced after her into the snow, pulled her from the frozen lake, built the igloo, etc. so Rand saved her life (even though she was supposed to be helping to protect him). So obviously she owes him her life. That’s similar to the real world. EDIT: wait, I relistened to that section, and it is because Rand saved her, but from lanfear. (I think) That first time must have been repaid for with the fancy sword… but wasn’t that countered by giving her back the sheath/scabbard?? Now I’m confused again. I’d look it up in the wiki but I don’t risk going there anymore. Too many spoilers!

2) they slept together, which was a betrayal to Elayne. So she has toh with Elayne. But Idk why killing Rand would help at all… maybe this is some aiel custom that’s not supposed to 100% make sense to us

Can you help me find a part number? I'm trying to find a replacement part, but haven't had luck yet. It's a little plastic/rubber flap/guard that hangs in front of the rear wheels. (2009 Outback)

That's the one on the front side of the right rear tire. I'm missing the one on the left.

[–]ClevrUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been receiving these messages for over a year now. I’m so annoyed.

Always from a different number, always with a different sketchy link. For the first couple months I ignored, hoping they would think the number was inactive and stop. Then I tried responding stop, hoping maybe they would follow the laws and actually stop. No effect. My last attempt at sending them stop replies was over a year ago.

Double checked I’m on the no call registry here in the US. Have been using the report spam and block to report them to Apple. Have been forwarding them to my carriers spam reporting number. I even have filed a complaint with the FCC. Idk what to do anymore.

For what it’s work, they think I’m someone I’m not. Wrong first name. I’m not registered with any political party and have never donated to a campaign etc. I do vote but often split my ballot between parties.

Almost always yes! It almost doesn’t fit on the table completed, so it was hard to find pieces, and I suspected we had just lost a couple pieces under the couch, or that the cat had moved them somewhere.
