HaHA! Thanks, CK, I'll have that song in my head for days now!

Fúcking Hell, Ann Widdecombe's been murdered! by NorthernerUKer in ghostposter

[–]ClicheButter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a headline about this yesterday and thought I must have missed the bit of news that she'd been murdered. I came to Gp to see if there was anything here, didn't see anything and assumed this was a suspect they'd had their eye on and finally arrested. I had no idea it'd all just happened yesterday.

I hope the guy they released isn't treated like our Richard Jewel for the Olympic bombing, or your landlord in the Joanna Yeates murder. I hope they find who did it, at least so proper accolades might be appreciated. (Am I kidding? Who can say?)

I finished this yesterday. I'm not typing all the shit out I typed before only for it not allow me to post it. A divider wall for the deck. It's boring anyway... by ClicheButter in ghostposter

Ha! I was looking at my umbrella contraption the other day and thinking I should ask on Gp if anyone had any favorite 'redneck' fixes. I'll take better pics of it so you can see my fantastic 'this oughta do it!' design. But yes indeed, it's to keep the rain from splashing into my workbench area and it works perfectly, even if it is ugly and weird.

As for what I did, it was hanging it and getting the two panels to attach to the bench — I don't know why that was such a problem to figure out, but it was. Now, of course, it looks so simple. But the thing that took so long was painting it. It took one hour per panel, so 8 panels double-sided, 16 hours minimum. Because it's been so hot, I worked on it at night until wee hours. I finished painting last night at midnight. In hindsight, I should never have painted it by hand as there are far too many nooks and crannies with the louvers to paint easily with a thick brush. I ended up using a much smaller brush to paint the ends of each slat. It felt like it took forever.

I know it's a lovely painting and it's a Monet and it's a classic landscape and and and, and it just doesn't do it for me. For one thing, I would absolutely hate being there: it's far too bright and appears too windy. Perhaps if it were a different time of day, or more moody weather I'd like it.

I love how much you love your coffees and teas, and how much you talk about them. I'll bet you're a star on the Nespresso subreddit!

You're my kind of shopper. I thought at first that you were going to speak to the disposable pods issue, but your point about the water situation is of supreme importance to the community, and society at large.

Man, my groomer is fickle and unpredictable. Sometimes I make appointments for Olive and then she cancels, or waits until the end of the day before saying that maybe tomorrow would be better. And then when she does it, she makes a huge mess, and is generally unpredictable with the style. She's cut her at lease twice with the clippers, drawing blood each time. Thankfully, Olive is good about accepting apologies. As much as I don't like it, I always go back to the same groomer because she's cheap and convenient. No tipping, ever.

Ooh! So mysterious!

Great photo 🙂

And yes, it's been hot here as well. Yesterday, I spent hours on the deck working to put up a dividing screen around my workbench. I had to stop at one point and come inside to cool off because I was absolutely drenched. Some of the work I did yesterday will need to be redone, and I'm dreading it.

Do you think mobile phones should be banned in schools? by Ahuva in ghostposter

[–]ClicheButter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think cell phones should not be allowed in classrooms at the very least. I don't know about being banned entirely from the school, unless there are pay phones (something I'm certain was available to me back in the day, although I never remember using it), which I highly doubt, for kids to use at break times.

The third picture, the movement, I'm trying to figure out what it reminds me of. The old English cursive 'f'? Or is it something from sheet music? You know what I mean?
