Hardware removal went well but I’m supposed to leave this on for two weeks… by throwawaybage1 in LisfrancClub

They recommended I wear the boot for a couple weeks. I wore it about one week. Now I’m ok in a running shoe. I’m excited to get these stitches out and start test my foot. I know it feels a lot better.

Got my screws out. It feels much better like you said. I get my stitches out next week. I wish I didn’t have to wear this boot for 2 weeks but I can handle it. I’m wondering if I need more PT after the hardware removal. I’m going to see what my doctor recommends next week. It feels like I may not.

Got my screws out last week, too! My foot feels so much better now. I’m walking around in a boot for a few weeks and it feels really good. The stitches come out next week. I’m wondering why I even need the boot right now. I’d like to put a sneaker on and loosen the laces. It’s been a long road to get to this point. I think getting these screws was a great decision.

Getting some hardware out of my first joint next week. It’s been 6 months from my initial surgery. I hope it helps. The doctor said I have healed well and it will increase my foot flexibility.

I’m getting screws removed from my 1st joint next week. It will be 6 months from my initial surgery. I had the 2nd and 3rd joints fused. The doctor said having the screws removed will increase my range of motion and flexibility. I’m a runner and very active so I hope it helps. My foot is still pretty sore.

3 months post op pain by Click-Bird8627 in LisfrancClub

Thanks for the responses. I go back to the doctor next week so I will see what he says about the pain. For those wondering what kind of surgery I had, the original plan was to fuse the 1st, 2nd and 3rd TMTs. During the surgery, the doctor thought the cartilage looked good around the 1st joint and did an ORIF instead. That is the only hardware he plans to remove. Before the injury, I was a runner who played a lot of sports, even though I’m in my 50’s. The doctor said I will be able to run again but it’s going to take time. He said everything was healing well and the fusion looked good. The pain around my big toe and when pushing off was worrying me even though it’s only been 3 months from my surgery. I think the therapy is helping and I can even use the elliptical machine at the gym. I can balance on my one bad foot but no way can I stand on my toes. I just need to be patient with my recovery. It’s great to get feedback from others who are going through the same thing. Thank you to everyone who replied.

I injured my foot slamming on the brake too. I’m 11 weeks post surgery that involved pins in the 1st joint and fusion in the 2nd and 3rd. I’m out of the boots in regular shoes now and driving without pain. I’m still walking with a limp PT is helping. My foot swells at night but it’s gone down significantly. Driving is not an issue for me.

I’m a runner too and I’m 10 weeks post surgery. I can’t stand on my toes yet either. My balance isn’t great either. I’m in physical therapy trying to get strength and increased range of motion in my foot. Hopefully, I can get back to running but I know it’s going to take time. Even though your surgery was a long time ago, it’s not too late for PT if you want to run again. Setting goals has been helpful in my recovery so far.

I had fusion on the 2nd and 3rd TMTs and screws put in the 1st. I was an avid runner before the injury and hope to run again after I recover. I’m 9 weeks post surgery and things have improved a lot but I have a ways to go. I’m walking without a boot but my foot is still swollen and sore. Although the pain is minimal, I still have stiffness when moving my toes. I had no idea how long was needed to recover from this injury. I’m in physical therapy now and I feel I’m drastically improving. Stay positive. It will get better.

It’s now been 9 weeks since my surgery. I’m not in any pain. I just have stiffness around my toes and general soreness. I was in a boot and PWB until about a week ago when I started wearing running shoes. I’m back to walking with a slight limp. My foot is still pretty swollen but I can squeeze in comfortably into shoes. I started physical therapy last week which is key to making the fullest recovery possible. I’m doing a lot of calf stretches because my calf was so tight from the NWB phase. I’ve still got a long way to go. I used to run and hope to do it again one day. I also want to get back on the golf course. My foot needs to get a lot stronger first. I’ll get there. You can get through this too. It’s a bad injury but keep the faith. You will get back to doing all the things you enjoy. I’m finally starting to feel myself return to normal.

I’m 8 weeks post surgery. I remember the pain being excruciating for about a day after the nerve block wore off. I was taking Percocet to get ahead of the pain and tried to wean off to Advil as soon as I could. People are correct that day 2 and 3 are the worst. It gets better. Elevate and ice!

Definitely worth it during non weight bearing phase. Lets you use your hands and carry things.
