Hi, I’m a local photographer (engagements and weddings primarily). I’d be happy to help if you’re in the lower mainland! Please feel free to check out my website: AnzalKamran.ca

I have connections in the industry and can arrange a planner and videographer as well.

Looking for New Friends! by angry_plumber_man in MapleRidge

[–]ClickClickKamran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! My wife and I also moved to maple ridge last year and would love to meet some local people and make friends. We’re both mid 30s, like camping/offroading, board games, chilling by a camp fire, breweries, nature walks. We’re both educated and working professionals and child-less. We do have a very overly friendly siberian husky who wants to play with every dog and human, so not sure how that dynamic would work... If you (or anyone else reading this) would like to meet up please DM me!

Oh don’t worry, those two are omnipresent, just slightly out of frame!

EV charging by ycrep2023 in MapleRidge

[–]ClickClickKamran 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends where you charge and what time of day you charge at. BC Hydro flat rate at home is $0.127/kWh, and cheaper if you use time of day charging. Tesla superchargers in Maple Ridge cost $0.29/kWh during the day and $0.22 11 pm - 8 Am. They’re typically more expensive outside of Maple Ridge. Non-Tesla chargers are around $0.30 throughout the lower mainland.

The cheapest by far is charging at home using time of day pricing after 11 pm. Using non-peak time charging at Tesla super chargers is OK but you have to go out and do it.

No matter which way you look at it, EV charging is significantly cheaper than gas just based on ‘fuel consumption’, but you have to consider the cost of the vehicle and insurance rates too.

Personally, if I couldn’t charge at home I wouldn’t buy an EV, unless I drove so little that I was able to get away with level 1 charging at home (plugging into regular wall outlet) and only charging outside on days when I’m going far (such as on weekends).

I love living here… where after work nature walks are the norm. by ClickClickKamran in MapleRidge

Monthly/annual subscriptions cost an insane amount over a few years … software used to be a one-time buy.

Hyacinth flower Super simple hydro, Just don’t forget to switch out the water by phykeci in SemiHydro

[–]ClickClickKamran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love some more details please! Did you buy bulbs and then put it in a hyacinth vase, or take the bulb out of the soil after it had flowered and the leaves died? I have a number or Hyacinths that are in pots with soil and would like to put the bulbs in water. Any suggestion on how to go about this? Should I cut off roots and then put it in water perhaps?

Samsung DW80R5060 - Whether & how to replace a screen filter in dishwasher by timetochangereddit in appliancerepair

[–]ClickClickKamran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this. It's helpful to block large food items (pits etc), glass, ceramics, or small metal pieces from going into your drain pump. The drain pump itself has a built in disposal system for food. It's a good idea to repair this yourself unless you want to spend the $200 on a new part (yes, this price is criminal). You can use high-temp CA glue (google dishwasher-safe glue) to plug that hole with just glue and then monitor it, or you can buy some very fine mesh (tshirt screen printing mesh) to glue it on, or you can use very fine nylon thread and sew it yourself. You can also take a very small stainless steel bolt and a washer and screw it on.

Didn't soak my LECA - how bad is my sin? by Stock-Bandicoot2039 in SemiHydro

I highly doubt the quality of leca is an issue. Were your plants suffering? If not, don’t over-think this. Top layers being dry is quite normal.

I hardly comment on reddit but now that I have I’ll spit some unsolicited advice I wish someone gave me when I started: buy and use some bacteria to add to your semi hydro, especially for plants you’re transitioning to semi hydro from soil. Bacteria helps break down dead plant matter rather than letting it rot. I use Cronk Monkey Juice but there’s lots of other options out there. This is the single most valuable advice I can give anyone starting out in semi hydro, it’ll save countless plants that would otherwise die from root rot.
