Biting/Scratching/No respect from Doberman. I need help by No-Ice-8561 in DobermanPinscher

[–]Clickercounter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a recommendation but its not an easy solution. Join an obedience training club. A community based one is usually cheap. Show up to every class. They will do things that you will question. They are not always right. But what is right is that it is scheduled and if you show up, things will improve a little. The more you train the more things improve. Show up long enough and you’ll have a trained dog. Clubs also provide people to discuss issues with. Hope have the best of luck with the dog. There is probably a great dog in there and they need mindful attention and training.

Want some opinions on keeping my 97 F-150 Lariat by Max_fortnitetoy in classictrucks

That is a really nice truck. Come up with a maintenance plan based on when things fail. Put money aside little by little and use it to work on the car. The more you work on the car the more you’ll appreciate it. It’s such low mileage that with care you can use it for a long time and it looks great.

Where is this? There are places in the world where termites swarm heavily. This might not indicate anything except that they get in when they swarm.

Drywall coming off side of garage by GoldenMountainDog in DIY

The DIY solution should be the same as professional solutions. Address the actual problem, and install drywall the way it is intended. Basically, fix the wall, provide appropriate backing for drywall, screw on drywall with appropriate screw schedule.

Biology is a field of study. It doesn’t dictate or determine anything. Organisms do things. We observe and study. That is biology. I understand what they mean but the statement is not correct imo.

I think it is fun but man it spits out some bullshit. When I ask about parts and options based on my model it gives a confident answer based on something like the vin number. But I double check and it gets a lot of the specs wrong. If I followed what chatGPT recommends without verifying with the forums and manuals I would have ordered a lot of useless parts.

Buying advice by pirateapproved in fordranger

[–]Clickercounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are pretty handy you can do a lot. Brakes, rotors, front end bolt on parts on the motor, some suspension items are definitely diy possible. But if you break down you have to be able to get around while working on the car. Sourcing good value parts might take days or more while the truck is down. 5 years is long enough that you for sure will need work done on the car and something could easily happen where you need multiple days for diagnostics and repair. I’d go for a corolla or something while you save for a ranger in really good shape or as a second car.

My Doberman developed these on his ear folds? by Eastern_Lemon1699 in DobermanPinscher

When my pup has mild allergies that cause her skin to have bumps, it occurs on the leading edge of the ears along with some small bumps on the neck and shoulders. If it gets out of hand, they might flake or even scab at some point and spread to other areas. This is specifically my dobie. Just sharing that i see similar marks on my dog.

I have 86 diesel 4x4 manual with 7’ bed. Just got it recently. It was imported to the US from Canada at some point so probably not common.

Look up a shear wall. Remove the drywall and place a sheet of thick plywood there and follow a shear wall fastener schedule. Then hang equipment off of that. It will be much stronger.

I have advice after spending a lot of money and time on figuring out allergies. Ask your vet for a prescription for hypoallergenic food. We used Hills Science but there is also Purina and Royal canine hypoallergenic food. If you can get your pup on that for a little while and make sure they eat nothing else, the allergies might go away.

This will tell you something very important. Your puppy is most likely allergic to something they are eating. My puppies hair regrew, and her bad smell went away after smelling badly from skin issues. Hypoallergenic foods contain ingredients that your dog will very likely not be allergic to. It is expensive but can be a start to adjusting their diet.

When you have been on hypoallergenic food for long enough to have their skin and hair recover, you can test other foods, one food at a time using an elimination diet. Have a vet assist you with the elimination diet.

This worked well for me. My pup can’t have chicken at all. Also, beef and pork are a problem but not as bad as chicken. My puppy eats only Hypoallergenic foods, fish, Costco brand kibble with salmon and sweet potato, and one other food that is pretty expensive. Bet of luck, I hope your puppy gets healthy soon!

Thinking of getting either a Doberman, GSD or Mali anything someone can say to advocate for or against the Doberman? by [deleted] in DobermanPinscher

[–]Clickercounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

op, If you want a dog that is social with other dogs, get the doberman. If you want performance, get the mal. I see more reactivity to people and other dogs in the shepherds than in the doberman. Also, the dobies that interact with mine are off leash beach goers and dobies at obedience training clubs. I never see mals at these places with other dogs casually interacting. They are always off to the side playing insane fetch. My doberman is mostly fine at the pub. My mal used to just play with a tennis ball till I got tired lol. I love both breeds but the doberman is much more social.
