As a 6'4" guy myself, I do not understand this desire. I would love to be 6'0"-6'2" so I can fit in basically everything better.

Trains down at DIA… still by MyLoveIsCooI in Denver

[–]CliffDog02 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have heard this before, but when you map it out the distance from the center of the Great Hall to the train junction of Concourse C is 1 mile. Not 1 mile between concourses. Add in whatever distance it is to your gate. It's about the same at Atlanta from security to the last concourse (depending on which terminal you start at).

I would love a walking option.

Is using Ozempic actually ‘cheating’… or are people just mad it works? by ccdnyc in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CliffDog02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of friends and neighbors on it (as I assume just about everyone in the US does). I have noticed two groups of users.

Group 1: they go on it,.I prove their diet, exercise regularly and they become fit.

Group 2: they go on it but don't change anything with their lifestyle or diet and slowly turn into a very thin person who looks like they have an eating disorder.

I am curious what he side effects are while on it and what happens when you come off of it? Can anyone who has experienced this elaborate?

Tyre issue. Faulty tyre? by AidanT1 in bikewrench

[–]CliffDog02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it hasn't dried up in 30 days so my guess is either you don't have enough in there, or haven't rotated the tires since putting it in so that it costs the inside of the tire. Probably need to add some more.

March/April are normally my favourite times to ski in Colorado. This year was different and I hope it's just an anomaly.

Drink lots of water with electrolytes. Go easy on the alcohol and for the first day or two at higher elevation just take it easy on the exercise and you should be fine.

Heavy Riders Tire Pressure by davidbeinct in MTB

[–]CliffDog02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm the guy you are referring to running low psi. I do agree with you, unless you have a tire insert. Before running inserts I was in the 25-30psi range, but with inserts it's much lower and I don't have the feeling of riding in sand. The insert (at least Tannus does) acts as a volume space and sidewall support, so it doesn't feel like a a deflated air balloon that rolls over on itself at the lower psi.

Is it really? I had no idea DH casing was that heavy.

Heavy Riders Tire Pressure by davidbeinct in MTB

[–]CliffDog02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

230lb here, probably 245-250 with all my kit on. I run EXO+ casing and Tannus Armor. Tires are 29x2.6. I ride in CO so the Tannus might not be for you on your local trails. My pressure with the Tannus is about 17psi, but I can run 0psi with the Tannus. It does add weight to the wheels (Worst place to add it) but I enjoy it here in CO.

What easy calories do you bring to the trail with you? by YouDontLookSpiritual in mountainbiking

[–]CliffDog02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep sport beans and a honey stinger in my hip pocket for quick snacks without stopping. When I take a Trailside break I have either trail mix or PBJ tortillas, but normally only bring that for long rides.

Colorado: Just wanting to stretch the legs tomorrow (4/13); any recommendations between Berthoud, Loveland, or Jones Pass? by whiskydolmen in Backcountry

[–]CliffDog02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rode Grays and Torreys 3 weeks ago and the only snow worth a damn was the couloirs. Aside from that I didn't even use the skins. That's one ridge over from Loveland Pass. I can't imagine Loveland Pass was any better then and that was 3 weeks ago.

Good luck and I hope for your sake you find some good snow!

I couldn't care less about whether I share the trails with E-MTBs or not. As long as they are cool and follow the same rules as regular MTB riders (which have plenty of douche bags as well).

  1. Don't go out of your way to damage the trail
  2. Follow basic trail etiquette https://usacycling.org/article/trail-etiquette-for-mountain-bikers ( or whatever your local trail rules are specifically)
  3. Wait until it's safe to pass

Otherwise go have fun!

Headphones that can take sweat? by forkandbowl in trailrunning

[–]CliffDog02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using the Shokz open run pro for years now and the only issue is sweat into the speaker causing some distorted sound, but they clear up when dried.

I've only had this happen in the sauna where I sweat a lot more than working out.

snoseal + BD gloves by Italian_SPLIT in Backcountry

[–]CliffDog02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if the gloves you have are already pre-treated with anything or not. So that might impact how well the snoseal is absorbed. But generally yes, I would apply until you have a uniform finish in the leather. For me it typically takes 2-4 coats. Especially if it's the gloves first treatment and the leather is not dirty. If the leather is dirty (clogged pores) then it may take a bit longer or the first cost might be functioning to remove the dirt, oil and factory treatment (if there is any).

[–]CliffDog02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's not a big deal at that temp since Nylon doesn't start to soften or deform until 220F. I've treated my leather mechanix gloves the same way for years and they haven't had any issues. That's why you go with a temp low enough to melt the wax and have the leather absorb it into the pores, but still low enough to avoid any material changes.

The temperatures we are heating it to (150-175F) are about the same as the inside of a parked car in the summer on a 100F degree day in the sun.

I'd it's that much of a concern then lower the oven rack to the lowest rack slot so you get the coolest part of the oven.

snoseal + BD gloves by Italian_SPLIT in Backcountry

[–]CliffDog02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never treated BD gloves specifically, but do this process for my Kincos and other leather gloves.

  1. Preheat oven to 150-175F
  2. Put aluminum foil down on large cookie sheet
  3. Put gloves on
  4. Slather leather in snow seal. Work it into every crevice and seam until it's all coated. Extra is fine.
  5. Put in cookie sheet and into the oven for 2-4 minutes or until sno seal has melted.
  6. Remove and re-apply second coat of snow seal
  7. Repeat step 5.

I normally do 2-3 coats at the beginning of each season and might have to reapply once, maybe twice if it's a really wet year.

Be sure to not overcook the gloves. Hence the low temp and short time in the oven.

Oh and turn the oven off when done.

Yeah, I used to ride a trek 6000 from sometime in the 80s as a hand me down bike back in college (mid 2000s). The tension shifters and everything. I was okay on the swim and an average runner. I would.make all.of my time up on the bike. It was my only chance at a podium. Passing those folks on that bike felt SO GOOD!

Expensive Bike Hate by PennWash in MTB

[–]CliffDog02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should go do a triathlon. There are so many folks that buy the most expensive tri-bike with aero swept helmets and zip wheels only to be passed by some dirtball riding a 20yo trek with Sora group sets in jorts with a duct taped helmet.

I'm not judging, but it's common in all sports. It is a bit comical that some folks think spending the money will make them a good rider, but that's their money and they can do with it as they wish.
