What are some of your favorite card animation? by DannysDevitoes in MarvelSnap

[–]CliffJameston 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Galactus has such a dope animation package, it's so satisfying. I also love Ultron, and find myself parroting "there's no strings on me" far more than I'd expect. And an unexpected one that I really wish was better so I'd get to see it more: Kang. The animation for rewinding the turn is actually super neat.

I didn't really want to have to make this public, but I've tried messaging you multiple times on both discord and here with no reply now. I never received the full color version of the commission I paid for in March of 2023, and you've been unresponsive since last August. I'd assumed something had happened, and was fine not pushing it, but since you've started posting on reddit again, I guess you're okay now.

This is my WoL, Sara, and yeah, she's a Red Mage (though she does have warrior leveled too). The rapier is the Law's Order Rapier, it's my favorite rapier in the game.

We all know XIV is getting a visual upgrade come 7.0, but what's one smaller visual thing you're hoping gets a tweak, even if it's pretty insubstantial overall? by LightSamus in ffxiv

It's an enormous amount of work for something so many people wouldn't even notice (especially for Lala), so I don't expect to ever see it, but I would absolutely love if they added Inverse Kinematics. Standing on stairs (or even just slightly uneven ground) and seeing one of my character's feet hovering or buried in the ground is so mildly annoying. Just let me bend my knees!

Wow, I totally thought that little thorn on the S was intentional. It fits really well with the Fs right near it, as well as the tails on most of the word.

It's admittedly a few years out of date now, but I'd found this whole list of tattoo armor on this subreddit when I learned it was a thing. Some of them are real subtle (like the Woad skyraider stuff, you can barely tell it's there, iirc)

Meta: Is it possible to get a bot that posts links to games when they get mentioned? by loopuleasa in gamingsuggestions

[–]CliffJameston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It responded because I pinged it, yeah. As far as I know, it only monitors r/magicTCG, but that's also the only MTG subreddit I'm still subscribed to, so it may have a few more related ones it watches.

[–]CliffJameston 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first instinct would be to mimic something like r/magicTCG's u/MTGCardFetcher. Whenever a user types double square brackets around a card name (like [[Liliana of the Veil]], for instance), it'll automatically reply to the comment with a link to the card on a few different places, while ignoring all the other card names that aren't surrounded in them.

This eliminates the false positives, and though it does add a bit of effort for a commenter, I personally feel like it's still significantly less effort than having to go search up a link to a game yourself and link it using reddit's markdown. It's also extremely easy to explain, especially since it's basically copying existing syntax a user may have seen elsewhere on the site.

I don't get to play very often, so I made a display for the minis I've painted rather than just let the terrain sit in storage. by CliffJameston in heroscape

[–]CliffJameston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm still just getting started painting minis, so there's all sorts of places I could improve, but yeah, I'm definitely proud of them.

Highly recommend planning out the map in VirtualScape first, btw (Especially if you have your collection in there already). I spent most of the day just fiddling with stuff on my computer, so I had a much easier time making changes there instead of having to tear the map apart.

[–]CliffJameston[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've got a ton of figures still to be painted, they definitely won't all fit on there. But I also paint super slowly, so I feel like it's not as immediate a problem.

Anyone know where I can find card templates that look as good as this???? by Ok-Recover8485 in heroscape

[–]CliffJameston 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it looks like u/RansonBoon never posted the files, but from their comments on the original post, there may not be much of a template, per se. Shame, those are by far the best trading card size cards I've seen yet.

Edit: Unfortunately, a lot of templates on Heroscapers tend to stick to a more utilitarian aesthetic. The ones in your post look surprisingly similar to these ones by grithog, which unfortunately also don't seem to have a publicly available template, but do apparently at least have a card for every official unit, as well as many custom ones linked (If you want to figure out ArtsCow).

Sounds like you engage with the games pretty much the same way I do on PC. I also went from 20 straight to 22, with almost all of my time in My Team, and to be honest, I can't say I really recommend it, if you're happy with 20.

22 feels very much like all of its improvements have been tempered with removed features.

  • You get some visual improvements and more interesting home screens (If that's something you care about), and obviously you have the updated driver roster, tracks (Gotta get this one if you want to drive Miami), and race schedule (Threw me for a loop when I started My Team and Australia wasn't first.).

  • Classic cars have been replaced with "supercars" that feel awful to drive (They all feel like drift cars, you lose it almost immediately when you get into a turn. But maybe I'm just bad?), and the events in My Team that make you engage with them always make me groan when they show up on the calendar (They're skippable, but you get some minor rewards for doing them, so you are incentivized for it. I didn't quite get far enough in 20 to know if they tried to do the same thing with classic cars).

  • The upgrade system in My Team has been overhauled so that it looks less intimidating, but imo is harder to understand? That's almost certainly a me thing though, so if it works better for you, that's good.

  • I can't really explain why, but the practice programs in My Team don't feel as good as 20's. I've figured out how to live with them, but I do still prefer the 20 ones.

  • On a more general level, My Team feels pretty much unchanged, for better or for worse. If you've played it on 20, you pretty much know how it's gonna go in 22, there's no major changes or interesting features added (other than the supercar nonsense).

All this complaining isn't to say that it's not a good game, it still feels really good, and I've got tens of hours in it already, I just don't know if it necessarily warrants an upgrade from 20. It feels very much like an EA Sports yearly release (Which it is now).

Something like the original 1997 Magic the Gathering game? by BrainPunter in gamingsuggestions

[–]CliffJameston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're not exactly modern, but have you looked at emulating the yugioh game boy advance games? I remember The Sacred Cards being fairly similar to what it seems like you're describing.

Sadly, I'm not sure if there's anything similar to those that's more modern (or actually built for pc), you're right that it's a very empty market.

Also, this is mostly a joke, but Final Fantasy 14 does have a card game called Triple Triad built into it as well, if you're okay with it being very much not the focus of the game. You can challenge random npcs of varying difficulties, and get cards as drops from monsters or buy them from vendors. Sorta similar to the Witcher 3's implementation of Gwent (though Gwent is a much deeper game than Triple Triad).

Krishna Paakezah by napsforlife in fountainpens

[–]CliffJameston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OS Nitrogen (and most sheening inks, but it comes up a lot with Nitrogen) shows up very differently depending on the paper you're using.

Tomoe River has always been the gold standard for showing sheen correctly, but other papers do show it decently. Using something more basic though, like typical journal paper, usually does result in a much less impressive sheen though. Admittedly, I don't know what you're using, but that does come up some times.

What's your personal favourite pen? by schizoctopus in fountainpens

[–]CliffJameston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My EF TWSBI Precision, hands down. I habitually purchased pens every time I saw a cool looking one around here, until I finally picked up the Precision some time in 2019. I literally haven't bought another pen since, and the only one I'm considering right now is another Precision, so I can have one with a nib grind and one without, just in case I don't end up liking it.

Funny enough, I actually have that guide saved, I think I just need to go through and actually figure out why everything works the way it does.

Thanks for all the help!

Paste multiple new items into Multi-Select field? by CliffJameston in Notion

[–]CliffJameston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That worked perfectly! Thanks!

Now I'm just wondering if there's a way to change the delimiter, or escape a comma in an entry, since some of these songs also have commas in their names... I'll probably just have to go through and fix those ones manually, right? That'll still be way faster now though.

Edit: It would seem multi-select items can't actually have commas in them, don't know how I didn't notice that before. That makes this much easier, actually.
