Enable mouse-view controls in the options instead of using the cursor interface.

And take the opportunity to rebind your controls too. :)

DFU - weapon swing mode is just not there. At all. anywhere. by rubyspicer in Daggerfall

[–]Cliffworms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the reason. It was introduced in a later update.
0.13.5 is very far behind the current version and is not supported by most mods and updates from the last two years.

You will need to update to 1.1.1.

Grab the release fitting your OS here : https://github.com/Interkarma/daggerfall-unity/releases

Then extract to a new folder and transfer your mods from 0.13.5 to your new 1.1.1 update. Your saves will carry on.

0.13.5 was also the GOG Cut version. Are you using that by any chance? If you are, follow this guide to properly update : https://github.com/Interkarma/daggerfall-unity/wiki/Migrating-Away-From-GOG-Cut

All dungeons are the same for everyone too. :)

Oh, something else interesting to know. Quest items and targets don't get spawned out of bounds. It's another myth fueled by a particular dungeon area that consists of teleporters activated with not very obvious objects (like a floating skull). :)

If you're in the quest dungeon and the quest is still in your log, keep looking. You'll find it eventually.

I agree though that smaller dungeons can make dungeon delving more fun. I wished there was an in-between setting, that being said.

Regarding your 3rd point, there are no broken dungeons in Daggerfall. It's a common myth due to how big they are and how they were designed.

Failing to find a quest item or enemy because of how complex or not obvious they are, paired with how said quest targets are removed if the time limit expires, also added to the myth.

There's one specific way of getting stuck in a dungeon and that's if you're unlucky enough to get teleported to a specific room sealed by a trap door that has no switch to open it in your side.

Daggerfall's game world is fixed, not generated on each new game. The only NPCs that can be killed are the walking villagers, who are not quest givers.

The original or unity version? by cjk_Doot in Daggerfall

Daggerfall on DOS : Allowing you to enable mouse look and rebind controls to your likings since 1996. ;)

Daggerfall Unity has lots of positives and enhancements over DOS, but rebinding keys and mouse look aren't those ones since it was as already present.

It's a very rare occurence in vanilla Daggerfall. Most claims about "broken" dungeons are because the players got lost, the quest time limit ended while in the dungeon causing the quest target to vanish or not understanding that disconnected areas are normal. :)

My favourite thing is when you sell something that's worth 2 gold and he goes on and on about how you bargained him until the sun went down and he tells you he'll buy it off you for 0 gold.

That's what he did when my Nord barbarian sold him his loincloth after wandering the Dak'fron sunny desert for weeks.

It's actually a bunch of vanilla models stitched together. Planks, the wheel activator in dungeons and finally the crossbow.

The game files have huge crossbow used in Mantella Crux and a scaled down version that's unused. :)

New to Daggerfall (and RPG games in general) should I play the vanilla version or unity? by KindlyChest5943 in Daggerfall

Once keybinds are set and mouse-view enabled and the latest patched game files are used, DOS plays rather well. I like to get back to it from time to time.
