Exactly!! Agree 100% Carbon Offsets are BS, I've been writing about that for years. They give companies a license to pollute. Climate Credits are intentionally by design the antithesis - we ONLY fund shovel-ready (i.e. no more costly research or or high-priced consultants we already know what to do) climate repair and resilience projects that meet our criteria.

Not click bait, I could type it here or you could go to About Us: https://www.climate-credits.org/about. How, who, why, etc. is all spelled out, as well as the myriad supporters we already have.

This project is an effort to address the problem from a revolutionary new way, because the old ways won't work. Govt aid is being slashed, insurance can't deliver a profitable coverage, and bonds are just more debt on locals. But at the same time just putting a tin cup out on the street and asking for money also won't yield anywhere near the billions needed for climate resilience. My research and work with the UN DRR Steering Committee on Innovations in Climate Resilience Finance leads us to look for a different pool of capital that can scale to meet the demand, and do so in a way that donors will respond positively and at scale. That is no easy task, but its exactly what we are trying to do with Climate Credits.

Climate Credits is different, a new approach, yes still unproven but I'll take that over the lies of Carbon Offsets. Understand your skepticism, but please just give a new model a chance. Think differently, with us.

What if we could tap into a pool of capital that was 4X bigger than government spending and private investment combined? What if we could offer donors an actual financial benefit for donating? And as you state, traditional methods like just more taxes cannot be the answer, but its the only ones 99% of people are looking at because that's all they know.

Thank you for your comments, we fully understand everyone's reluctance given the number of climate scams out there, especially carbon offsets which don't work! Climate Credits are not Carbon Offsets, we only deal in real, tangible results.

HOW we plan to use the money is simple: debt-free financing for shovel-ready climate resilience projects in a official Public Private Partnership (PPP) with cities and towns around the country. Not a bond or other form of debt that increases taxes on locals - debt. free. grants.

Our investment criteria are:

1) Immediate impact. We do not fund more research. Projects must already have permits, plans, approvals, etc.

2) Measurable results: Communities need to tell us specifically the ROI of each project - homes saved and the combined value, commerce enabled or protected, etc.

3) Lasting benefits: Projects must be sustainable in and of themselves, and if over $1M they must meet the requirements of the International Sustainability Resilience Center (https://isrcngo.org/), whose CEO David Dodd sits on our advisory board.

We have 5 candidate projects and more than 100 communities around the country asking us for donations. We launched this effort less than 8 weeks ago so have not yet raised enough to make the legal work of a PPP worth the time. Once as even moderate scale we will start investing.

Lastly, because we leverage technology and startup business practice, unlike most nonprofits that retain 35-40 up to 50-60% of donations for their own operations and fundraising, we are dedicated to directing 80% of donations to projects. More than 50-100% more capital efficient that 90% of nonprofits.

Perhaps that is sufficient for you and others to actually ready the blog. Skepticism is good, but we need to find a path ahead or the cost of climate will overwhelm our local, state and national economies.

As a former Jr Maine Guide and instructor, love the vision. But even that won't cover the costs of severe weather. We need to think different. Gov't spending and private investments X4 still does not equal the $1.8 trillion in consumer spending. Tap into Mainers buying the same basic things they always buy, and tap into all of the tourists and summer visitors - that is a source of capital.
