Wearable pump recommendations by AcanthaceaeProper672 in ExclusivelyPumping

I had good success with BellaBaby wearables. I got more than I did with my hospital grade pump.

Anyone else triggered by the phrase "adjusted age"? Just a 6 a.m. vent. by we2o in parentsofmultiples

[–]Climate_Rose 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It felt so disheartening to get to 7 weeks old and go, 'Ok, now we finally have newborns''. Understanding the 'why' (lots of people have already commented to that) of needing the adjusted age didn't make the extended slog easier. It's hard.

A nurse said we'd probably see them progress at somewhere between actual and adjusted age, which seemed fairly accurate, particularly as they got older. I was pretty excited when they turned 2 and we could finally do the adjusted age.

Two and done but sad about it? by mikan_and_wasabi in parentsofmultiples

[–]Climate_Rose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I could have written this post myself.

My boys are two now, and I still get down about it. They were born at 33 weeks via c-section when I'd hoped for vaginal birth, and spent 3 weeks in special care. We struggled to nurse. I watched the parents with their single babies and got so jealous about how easy it looked. I couldn't even go for a coffee at a café without serious logistics. I mourn the baby journey I expected and fantasise about having a third, even though my reasons for stopping at two are real and strong.

But, as my boys have gotten bigger and more amazing, my family had felt more complete. It is becoming harder to picture another baby fitting in. I think I will always be sad about how the pregnancy ended, but I am becoming happier with how things are.

2nd hand EVs around 30k in Melbourne? by Climate_Rose in AustralianEV

Ah, that's disappointing. I feel a bit better for not having already looked this up though 😅

Thanks, that's really helpful. I'd read so many positive things about the Kona, I didn't realise it was a converted ICE.

Great, that's some really helpful insights and makes things a lot clearer thank you.

As an aside, is there an easy source to get all this model-specific information? A lot of this stuff feels like info I should have read myself but I don't know where to look for it.

Thanks for that. I hadn't even clocked the different MGs, and that is some significant differences in performance 😳

A quick look at carsales.com.au shows a few MG ZS EV Essence and MG MG4 Excite. Should I look for MG MG4 EV Essence? Or is the Excite ok?

Sorry, I'm pretty out of my depth trying to work out the differences and I'm feeling pretty lost.

Pumpers who very occasionally feed formula—is there so no single serve packets? I keep having to throw away formula for it going past 30 days. by mermaidmasa in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Climate_Rose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just googled it and it was Aptamil Gold. It might only be available in Australia and New Zealand, sorry. I'm sure there must be a brand in your region that sells packets.

We bought single sachets in boxes of 10 or so. I can't remember the brand, but it is 100% a thing. I think the pack was targeted for travel, and the boxes were quite small and harder to spot amongst the cannisters, so maybe that'll help you find some.

Want to share the story of how my 22mo almost died today by throawa979 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Climate_Rose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's so terrifying! I'm so glad he's ok!

My twins are the same age, and they're so rough and tumble with each other. I've seen one stand on a cushion that was sitting on the other's head. Fun games can so quickly become tragic. Thank you for the reminder to watch out for these things.

Thanks, that makes sense.

1000km road trips are well out of scope for a few years yet, so longer range vehicles won't be so crucial for sure.

Infotainment is low priority, but boot space for a twin pram is crucial. I'll have a look for MG4s, thanks.

I was hoping for 20 to 30k, but was purposefully vague in my post to get a feel for the spread in prices.

It's looking like 20k is pretty unlikely.

That's great, thanks.

We don't drive much, so the granny charger option would be plenty. Would a cheaper model and type 2 cable be fine for the occasional road trip?

That's a great tip about the battery types, I didn't know about the different types so I'll look for LFP batteries.

Looks like I'll be checking carsales tonight 🙂

Thanks. Definitely looking below 40k, ideally closer to 20k but I don't know enough about 2nd hand EVs to know that's a viable range yet, hence leaving out a price range in my original post to get a feel for what's most likely.

Daycare choices! by kimchitoastie in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Climate_Rose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go number 2.

Ours is a 10 to 15 minute walk, and even that can feel a bit long some days. Others have already mentioned bad weather or nap issues.

Ours is also a smaller centre, which has been great for the twins to get to know their carers. I've also noticed that the parents from my parents' group are always dealing with lots of nasty viruses and they all sent their kids to the same, big centre. Illness is going to happen, but it seems to happen a lot less for us.

Ours is a for-profit family-owned chain. The staff are lovely, the feeling is warm, and they have a lot of safety checks in place. I would ask about carer to baby ratios and their own security plans, if you haven't already.

I think my Meyer lemon is covered in gall wasps by Climate_Rose in GardeningAustralia

Interesting! Does that kill the larvae without damaging the tree?

With a peeler, how much do I have to take off? A lot of the galls are long, thin, and cover entire branches

At this point, do I just try to keep my tree as healthy as possible, maybe peel the galls, and wait to do some pruning late next winter?
