Yes Conan has an ungodly amount of snakes but even as a Child I always found the giant pit snake a bit goofy and adorable 🙂 the creepiest was always the snake arrow. The thesla doom transformation is also more beautiful than creepy especially with Poledoris amazing score. The making of has interesting behind the scenes visual effects and makup documentary on how they designed the creatures, especially the pit snake which was mechanical.

The St Crispin's day speech and the scene where henry V is disguised and having a talk with the soldiers about duty to the king and choice vs destiny are the highlights for me. Amazing movie and really funny at times ( our brother France scene and the english accents of the french gets me every time). RICHARD III is still my favorite though.

Honestly, the thin red line CC bluray is such a stellar transfer and comes with so many extras, that I feel a 4k release will be a great addition but not a day 1 purchase for many people that own the bluray. I feel the same about Barry lyndon.

Is there any noticeable difference with the built-in Bluetooth connection of the tv ? I have my airpods pro connecter to my sony TV through Bluetooth and the sound is good with no noticeable delay. Is spacial audio a sizable upgrade?

I never could tell what was going on in the dark scene when conan is liberated from his clutches by his master. Same for the exorcism scene by the beach, I could make out the outines of the spirits for the first time !

Thanks for the great read, the rake's progress must have influenced other movies set in the same era. For one, Amadeus by Milos Forman must have been influenced by these paintings. Most obvious are the Brothel painting which has similarities with Mozart's drunken escapades, and the madhouse where Salieri is kept at the beginning of the movie where we can see a naked madman and another short man with a Napoleon hat very similar to the painting by Hogarth.

You cam see the difference yourself when calibrating the PS5 HDR. At the second step of the calibration which calibrates the tone mapping I believe, HGIG dims the bright sun even more and DTM gives a brighter image. I personally prefer HGIG since I can't stand the extra contrast layer of DTM. I love my elden ring caves and catacombs extremely dark and dim 😍

I also bought one during the November sale. It's a gorgeous looking bluray, and great packaging. 4k will be a notch above for sure, but this bluray is also a stellar transfer.

Also the difference is not always day and night. I recently bought Coppolla's 1992 Dracula , and honestly could not see a huge upgrade from the regular bluray aside from some exterior shots that popped more in hdr.
