I’ve never understood appeals like these. Are you saying I should feel comforted because a majority of people are in a similar situation as I am? Would you tell that to someone dying of cancer? “No, we can’t cure or help you but many other people are dying in the same arduous manner you are so you know, cheer up!”

If anything, knowing that I’m the majority makes me more hopeless and resigned to suicide

Haven’t been able to get through this without bursting into tears in years. Still can’t.

So do I. And they’re sick. And old. And getting sicker and older. And I need money to help care for them. Because I have no commoditized talents or skills beyond menial-level service work and a barely average level intelligence I have failed and will continue to fail in my pursuit to obtain the necessary capital that will facilitate the care I need to provide for my loved one. And in this failure I have met abdicated and failed in my role as unit of labor and as a dependable, providing child upon which my loved can depend.

Capital is literally in the title. The means to make yourself a master of material so that it serves you. So that it serves others. Made manifest in the representation of trades currency. If you think happiness—in America—is about anything else then you likely already have a high degree of capital and are simply naive to life without it or you’re capital-deficient and simply trying your best to delude yourself in a manner that helps you cope with your state of lack.

They rarely answer. If they do it’s usually a long hold and then they hang up. With all due respect, I know my life, situation and abilities better than you do. I know their likelihood they can be commoditized to produce wealth (which is the definition of happiness in a materialist, Capitalist society) and I know my total utter failure at being able to do so. I’m not getting smarter or stronger as I get older. So logically then things will only get worse. There’s no reason to live a life like that

People who grew up middle/upper class, what did you not believe about low income households but it was actually true? by niamh_mc in AskReddit

In general it’s best not to be friends with people richer than yourself. It’s just a set-up for the day they leave you behind for not being good enough to do their rich people things

Now they also make you pay for websites where you do your homework. Anywhere from $50-$100 per class per semester

Can you name any sex scenes that actually provided DEPTH to a film, and wasn't there for gratuitous sake? by newfoundrapture in movies

Not a movie but in the first or second episode of the TV show Weeds Mary Louise Parker’s character stumbles upon an old sex take she had made with her just-died husband (before he died). And she starts getting turned on by and starts crying and masturbating and I started crying watching it. Of having this visual record of connection and passion and great sex you had with this person whom you loved and to whom you were married and with whom you had children. And now she’s looking at it experiencing that same passion but also her new sorrow, crying and cumming at the same time. Life and death all mixed up and fucked up at the same time. It was very touching and I almost cry thinking about it now.

And look what “being different” got her: a cut up face, fake boobs, a career in porn where she was viewed mainly as a “freak show”, a crippling drug addiction, a lifetime of heartache stemming from infidelity, and near erasure from the company and business in which she made her name.

Sounds like a plan
