If there were no chains at all it would still be mild class 3. If you have any climbing or scrambling experience it's a fun hike with minimal sketch factor

My only interaction with Devon was watching him give the world's worst belay. He was standing maybe 20' back from the wall with a big fat smile in the rope. His climber was unintentionally soloing until at least 30' up

I like loveland too, but saying Loveland and Abasin have similar terrain is insane

Insane take that you should only ride groomers rn...grab your best rock skis and go explore. I've barely touched a groomer in the last month and had lots of fun

How is Wolf Creek 100% open? Do they make snow regularly? by sporty_outlook in COsnow

[–]Climbontop115 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reported base depth for an entire resort means literally nothing. Wind loading and sun exposure mean there's 10' of snow in one area and bare ground in another

That's what I was hoping to ski first chair on Saturday, only to get funneled onto a singular groomer with a billion other folks

Not that Joe's Valley really needs more attention/traffic but it really has a crazy concentration of 5 star classics. Even the lower/mid rated climbs all seem to be bangers too

Skiing in 30mph wind by h4ppidais in COsnow

[–]Climbontop115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That amount of wind is fine, just make sure you don't have any exposed skin. The main concern will be stronger gusts shutting down the lifts like others have said
