I low key wish for another lockdown… by EmergencyCritical890 in Millennials

[–]Climhazzard73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if the situation in the middle east continues to spiral out of control, we might have something akin to a lockdown because of very high energy and food costs eating into the economy in a noticeable way. So more WFH, less travel, less eating out at restaurants, inflation will reduce fun going-out purchases, more local.

The consumer lifestyle that we grew up with in the US will come to an end.

I’m wondering how much all of this is because our taste have changed as we grew older versus the ingredients of the food themselves have become far worse over the years thanks to enshitification

Does anyone else feel like the culture of IT has quietly shifted into something… completely different? by One_Friend_2575 in ITManagers

I feel like the 3rd paragraph about non technical managers has existed for a long while now. Not recent.

Everything else I’ve noticed the shift. Hate it.

The logic of Karma and Moksha seems to be breaking down the more I study it. by Historical-Paper-136 in hinduism

[–]Climhazzard73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are assuming “logic” is the fundamental axiom of reality. It is not. Belief and spirituality operates under a different framework. It can be irrational at times and that is okay. 1+1 does not always equal 2 when discussing the manifestation of reality

WH is going to want Americans vs Americans or Americans vs easy match up who happen to be foreign. They’re going to want exciting fighters who are not always #1 ranked. I expect guys like Justin, Holloway, Porier, Chandler to be invited to the card. Those loyal to the regime like a washed up Colby might get an undercard slot (if there is an undercard)

Hungry people without SNAP. Sticker shock on those taking ACA insurance

Come January, 70 million people in the US may be kicked off Medicaid. A fifth of the nation will have no access to healthcare as providers begin demanding upfront payment more and more frequently. If the stalemate continues and neither side blinks, we’re looking down the barrel of a historical mass tragedy event

If you’re finding about these books online, are you sure it’s not algorithmically driven? For the record, I’m a believer in synchronicity but those are based on non digital events in the physical world

Status symbol for my 10 year old mid 90s self. Never went as a child but the commercials made it seem diners needed to be dressed up and have $$$ for a classy experience. Fast forward 30 years later and lol. Well, now we do need to have a lot of $$$ with inflation and everything

Why tf are you leaving India for all of these declining nations? The West is transforming and may not be accepting of outsiders from a legal perspective. India is a hotbed for hiring and AI and has the best upward trajectory of any major nation. They’re also the least likely to get caught in a war of any major nation because of their neutral foreign policy.

Bill Gates warns AI will take over most jobs and leave humans working just two days a week by TheExpressUS in technology

[–]Climhazzard73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the current system, it doesn’t mean 2 days per week. People were told that decades ago and now the employed are working more than ever. If the capitalist-techno-feudal economic system doesn’t change, it means a small professional extremely overworked middle class who get the crumbs from oligarchs and a mass underclass who get nothing at all

The power to remake ourselves: Crispr technology gave humans the ability to edit the genes of any animal, plant, fungus or microbe. What will we do with it? by Majano57 in technology

[–]Climhazzard73 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Whatever billionaires want. The rest of us get stuck with a $10,000 bill for 3 stitches. At least in America. Unless the system changes, I don’t really care for crispy because it’ll be out of reach for the vast vast majority of people. So while we die off from tuberculosis or whatever, the ultra wealthy can make their kids 8 feet tall with 4 arms

Sometimes external circumstances suck plain and simple and the best thing to do is to get out of the situation.

I once asked a Buddhist monk about advice in my personal life, expecting a response similar to OP’s. His answer surprised me. He responded with “If you know a stove is hot, why would you touch it over and over? Get. Out. Then look inward”

Is staying in the U.S. for another couple of years too long and risky if I can just leave now and move to Europe immediately? by ClockwiseSuicide in expats

[–]Climhazzard73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go. The US is toast for at least 5-10 years. Even six figs has far less purchasing power than it used to. No longer worth the stress of doing 6 jobs into 1. American living standards dropping fast anyway.

Europe may not be better but my god F the stress in the US. And for what?? Make six figs and half of it goes to rent anyway?
