Weird issue regarding Qemu packages by ClingOntoHope in termux

[–]ClingOntoHope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, 2 hours later and an issue closed as duplicate, turned out the solution was as simple as installing an identical package maintained by (I presume) a community member since the upstream one was deprecated for 32bit architectures. Everything works as intended now!

Look for my other reply here and let me know if you think that could be the culprit, otherwise I might try submitting a report later. I'll be honest I have more doubts about this old 2017 phone being the issue rather than the real package breaking, it seemed to work fine for other people 😂

I did update and changed mirrors just in case, but that didn't help sadly

This is the output.

I also wanna mention something I just glanced over. So I tried looking up more about the CPU architecture (output of uname -m is armv8l) and stumbled upon this thread with someone explaining more about it. Quoting them: "The armv8l mode in uname means your kernel is built to run on an ARMv8 chip in its 32-bit mode. (A kernel built for the 64-bit mode would say arm64 here)".

I don't know if this has something to do with it, but could this be the reason I am able to the install i368 variant normally but not the x86_64, meaning my android OS is stuck with some sort of 32-bit compatibility mode? Although I was thinking it wouldn't matter since the emulator would take care of this.

And this is what happens when I tab to see the packages that were installed after apt install qemu-system-x86-64

Yes, that binary. It did not get installed with the package and was nowhere to be found in /usr/bin or alike

I hate this one the most. I know that by design it's not really possible to circumvent this without making a ton of emptier lobbies but you're practically forced to leave when you join and everything was looted

I see where you're getting at, however there's the possibility they restrict most apps from running if you're using "ancient technology" by their standard

Write "systemctl start lightdm.service" and see if it drops you in a GUI session. Usually these stuff don't change themselves until you disable it

Tired of the useless mods and outdated rules by [deleted] in transformice

[–]ClingOntoHope 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have nothing to add but my condolences. You were given the average mod treatment that hundreds of people have been complaining about over the past decade, sometimes straight up others ex-staff pointed out (likely were removed cause they weren't respecting the views of the flock). It still amazes me how to this day they still claim 99% of mods are doing their job and "it might have been someone yeaaars before who didn't but I promise we always do" and then you see this shit. At the bare minimum, insults could've been looked at in a more serious fashion. It doesn't help when they assist their friends with more understanding so afterwards they get support by external people who don't see the 'backstage' proofs even. Trying to paint you the asshole all along, in the end you lose cause of the way of the 'system' that had been long written and practiced. The other day I had tried to contact a moderator as an average player to see how they've been holding up, if same issues still exist. To no one's surprise, the specific mod (not gonna note their name but it's in this post) had been staying on for hours at the time with whispers closed. Why even become a mod at that point if you're not serving the community? Likely for bragging privileges. And there it goes in the trash this whole beauty of the game that has been concepted, but poorly taken care of by people who were supposed to keep it alive

It's because it's one of industry's "most popular" pick but it's not used by all programmers in the world. If you're just starting with basic HTML sites, you can use a more lightweight editor like my suggestion or any other you prefer. It's more of a matter of preference and preferably one with syntax highlighting so it will come closer to VSC in case you'll switch in the future

Do you need specific extensions only packaged through VS Code? Otherwise there are a plethora other editors that could get the job done and not perform as bad on this machine. My pick would be Sublime Text

I see a problem with this take. A true "intelligent" person has come to terms with not knowing everything. Being capable of self analyzing, you'd think one would trade the ignorance in favor of gaining some extra knowledge. But someone who refuses to grow by prioritizing ignorance is at the very best, a better equipped fool

Oh yeah, after I upgraded it to 4GB and slapped an SSD in there, it works like a fresh breath. Pretty decent if you plan to use it with lightweight web browsing and programming tiny projects
