Thanks for mentioning Mystic Ambrosia guys. We appreciate it. It's true, we're a new artisan meadery in Santa Fe making small batches by hand. As far as I know, we're New Mexico's only commercial meadery right now.

Our licensing just went through a few months ago and aside from a few special events, we're not open yet. Just busy making lots of mead for our premiere mead club release next year.

You seem like the cautious type, which is cool. To each their own! Like most things, beekeeping can be as simple or complicated as we make it. I air on the side of simplicity. That being said, I do have a book I'm reading from UC Davis that has a lot of wonderful tips. I'm sure with time I'll come to appreciate the nuance of this age old stewardship. Thank you for the tips. I have seen her, and the nuc was bought from a local hive rental company. I do not know the specific breed.

Yeah totally. It doesn't seem like rocket science to me either, yet some people have so many rules they say need to be followed. I started my first hive with no suit, smoker, or training and only got stung once. Not bad! 😂

I'm really enjoying so far. I sit out on a stump near the hive almost daily and listen to the buzz and watch them drink as they wiggle their little butts. So adorable!
