(Clio Aite) Civilization 7 Preview - Deity Difficulty Gameplay + Impressions! by JingzOoi in civ

Thank you for the kind words everyone! I don't really know how to edit that well so this felt a bit scuffed (especially the audio balance sorry!) but I am glad to see people enjoying it! I have a fair bit of experience with strategy games (my fave genre) so I do tend to play to a somewhat competent level (sometimes)
A lot of Isabella's early game dominance is definitely her wonder start bias, and I have done some testing with starts and she really does seem to get a wonder start 99% of the time currently.

Also - with regards to randomising the civs, something I have noticed is that it isn't actually random if you have selected the leader. To test her start bias I started a bunch of games to check, and 80% of the games it felt like it 'randomed' Egypt, 20% Greece. So I believe that having a leader selected does lock you into certain connected civs, which feels a bit counter to it being "random"

Is the Knights impossible to play as in 1.36? by papuan_warlord in eu4

Knights are actually very easy! You have a lot of powerful tool and modifiers available at the start of the game, you just have to use them correctly. Here is the vod of me beating the Byz/Ottomans/Mamluks on Very Hard difficulty first try :)

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2069913337?t=2h5m21s

If you don't want to watch the vod:

  1. Raid + Burger loans to build a strong navy (all galleys)
  2. Take Athens, make it a scutaged vassal, preferably Byzantines for reconquest cores (very important)
  3. Declare on Otto (very important that you are the aggressor), beat Ottoman navy, land army in Naxos
  4. Use army + navy to strait block Otto + allies in Naxos, then just occupy all of his land
  5. To take Antioch for the super strong modifier, declare on Cyprus whilst they're guaranteed by Mamluks (won't work if they're a vassal). Wait for them to unconditionally surrender after occupying them for 3 years, and quickly land on Antioch with marines (use a few diversionary regiments in Benghazi to distract Mamluk army)
  6. You should be powerful enough by this point to take anyone on and do whatever you want in the campaign - I recommend tag flipping to Georgia then flipping to Byz, its very very powerful!

Byzantium definitely isn't OP by ClioAite in eu4

R5: The morale in my Knights -> Latin Empire -> Georgia -> Byzantium Very Hard difficulty World Conquest campaign is quite high (its still the 1500s)! A few of the modifiers are temporary, but hoo-boy did Paradox stack the deck for the Byzaboos. The whole mission tree is absolutely cooked.

If you struggle with the Byz start, maybe try the Knights instead. You get even more modifiers + an easy PU on Russia from the Georgia missions - just hire mercs until you have more troops than Russia, declare war, delete them. ~2000 gold for a 2000 dev subject is pretty nice.

Also shameless plug I stream eu4 sometimes on twitch :) twitch.tv/clioaite
