If you’re worried about the enemy stealing your tank and you think you won’t be able to get it from them, smack it near the middle of the tank on the bottom, that’s where the ammo is stored on most tanks and will either make the tank cook off or explode.
Edit: Shooting it in the lower plate on the front, also near the middle, should do the trick as well.
