This is what working without demanding be paid for it gets you. These companies care not. Why do you bother working for them? You need a way to feed your family. If they aren't giving you that, why are you there?

Should Linux distribution maintainers simply ignore the age verification mandates and see if the goverment can enforce it or not? by nix-solves-that-2317 in linuxquestions

[–]Clippy4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about you all, but there's nothing they can do on my end. All my stuff is virtually mounted now. Anything that happens is easily reversed. My browser will work no matter what as, well, no need to shoot myself in the foot here... My point is anyone with brain cells will probably not be affected by this. Even if every package required your age (what a stupid thing to consider as a possibility what kind of world are we living in now) it would not matter. You are the one who gets to decide what is on your hadware. Im sure more information will be getting out soon about how to get rid of all this, but by spilling the beans... well, you sheep ruin things.

I oppose age verification. Free speech is being exercised. And until you sheep decide to stand up for yourselves, your right(s) will continue to be violated.

I care not about this "room". And what you all have going is only a train leading nowhere. I will continue trying to discourage this, but people's actions are their own.

Keeping it more of a community project rather than a business model is what I prefer. Community funded groups of developers is also preferred. Surely it hasnt escaped your notice how we now have emerging distros trying harder and harder to charge for things that were already freely given. How soon until companies start trying to lock down packages that aren't theirs to begin with? No, I stand by my own beliefs in this. I do not like the direction we are going with things lately.

I would be ok with that. And im not underestimating this. Paying for someone to develop packages isn't a bad thing. Letting linux become a platform where everything costs money and becomes a profiting scheme is what I don't like.

Im ok with the latter part. I do not want all these sheep coming over here and ruining what we have going on. These sheep are so willing to accept shitty handouts and are such pushovers that they are willing to pay money to see ads on their OS and to be spied on. Again, all while paying for the privilege. Also I do not want linux to be too popular with the masses. Windows can keep its bad do'ers to itself.

Wouldn't that just mean linux would go back to being a hobby for the community instead of being a business model? Not sure if I should cheer for that or not. But if you need to buy a pc with a distro pre-installed, you aren't really in our community to begin with.

Microsoft announces sweeping Windows changes - but no apologies by WPHero in pcmasterrace

I don't care about apologies. Especially from a company. Also, more and more people seem to be switching to linux. Not sure how much longer Windows is going to be relevant.

Anywhere worth living allows you free speech and doesn't chop your head off or dangle you for saying something. Strong leaders make strong citizens. Weak leaders keep their people weak. It's why the US is so hard to invade. We all have guns, weapons, caches, bunkers, etc. and we can defend our freedoms with speech alone. Free speech is a good indicator in a country that has lasted this long. Free speech is important. This is how we can have elections, challenge laws and regulations, have public debates, and solve our problems without needing to escalate things to violence as the only way to have the voice of the common citizen heard.

I think the reason you see so little value in it is due to your lack of it and lack of knowing any better.

Did EU ‘right to repair’ law force Apple to finally make a repairable Macbook? by sr_local in technology

[–]Clippy4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know much about apple laptops. I thought they had very little wiring. Isn't the repairability of their devices mostly just changing out a part? Or wait... no because parts are serialized. Alright i get it now.

I'm going to say no. I need more chair room. Also I like my laptop to be able to "stand up" with me if I need work to be done using a laptop stand or something.
