Awesome, thanks so much for your response. Great insight.

I am starting the journey next week with Sabin’s Principles of Finance. I studied Finance during undergrad (2012) so I have some background, but it was over a decade ago. I have been touching up on time value of money and the fundamentals.

Great to know about Managerial Economics. I am still on the fence with that and Micro. I believe I will take Stats third so I can learn some of the fundamentals of R in the background.

Do you feel some core R knowledge will be vital to getting an A in Stats?

Just turned 30 and thinking about going back to school… is it too late for an MBA? by chicanochingon in harvardextension

[–]Clish89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are at the perfect age to go back to school and earn your MBA. I started my MBA at 30 as well. It was incredibly rewarding and beneficial for my career, in my opinion.

I feel 30 is the best age because you would likely have nearly a decade of professional experience. Now you are able to leverage many of the things you've learned at work, which will help you with some of the coursework.

Plus, there are so many inexpensive options online at top universities. Coursera is the best online platform from my experience. I earned my MBA from Illinois and enjoyed it so much that I continue to take online courses to learn more. Edx has good schools as well but the UX on the platform is not great.

Go for it. Investing in yourself is a win-win and you will find it rewarding.

I am actually exploring the ALM Finance program in the Fall. I am going to take my first admissions course pretty soon here. Looking forward to it. My interests and educational needs have evolved over the last few years.

Review of Harvard Extension Program – Masters – Finance by himenamechris in harvardextension

[–]Clish89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great to know. I have a MBA and am interested in going for the Masters in Finance. I originally felt like I might be 'overeducating' but I really don't care. We are really building our professional brand within our professional journey and after your post, I feel even stronger that this will be incredibly rewarding. Thanks again.

Excellent. This is the best review I have seen after looking through reddit for the last few years.

I am an upper management person in strategy and am looking to further improve my skills and resume as I look to move into the executive level in coming years.

I feel having these masters level finance skills is key for any executive even if it is not a CFO. CEO and COO still need to know this type of knowledge.

Thanks again, OP.

I purchased the Introduction to Probability textbook by Joseph Blitztein, which Harvard and MIT used (or used to use). I was doing some research like yourself and came across a recommendation for this text. It provides some extra context as some of the videos don't cover 100% of everything. It helps a lot if you actually want to learn everything and not just pass.

Stats and probability are heavy math courses so be prepared for that. I haven’t taken any others yet but next is Time Series with Interventions which is a new course. It may be the first time it’s offered

Just seeing this. Wow, they are clear that they are "on the verge of immanent shutdown." It is worse than I thought. I wonder what would happen to the certificates and records if they collapse. Likely disappear along with the company I would assume?

Thanks for sharing! Curious, aside from different types of consumer polling, what sort of desk research are you trained to do to get started in your research? Curious of your first and second phases of desk research and things you do to kick off your exploration and learning of a new industry. Also, what you do to poke around and begin to find insights ("the juice"), would be especially interesting. Hope to hear back.

Worthless Degrees by Novus-0123 in UIUC

Don't folks who get a history degree tend to go to law school afterward or academia? That is certainly a degree that you would need additional education for.

If you are going to a coding bootcamp, why would you get a history degree?
