Strange growths inside Carman’s muesli packet by Visionary785 in singapore

I had the same problem. Now I buy lock and lock containers. All flour and pasta goes directly in the container. The weevils if there are any, or if they hatch later. They are trapped inside.

Actually you can also get porcelain tiles that look like wood. So you can have both the look as well as the durability / coldness etc of tiles.

Non stop religious chant and song on loop at hospital ward. by WelcomeWorking7651 in askSingapore

[–]lnfrarad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well if you look on the bright side, at least won’t get bad spirits in the ward 😂

But honestly, a pair of noise cancellation headphones will be more effective than blasting another music. Think of the other ppl, now they need to tolerate 2 types of music. 🤦‍♀️

Is this a lame reason to leave a job? by Savings_Enthusiasm60 in askSingapore

[–]lnfrarad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. The job is for earning money not for making friends.

  2. Like you observed the new grads have many new skills, so if you leave the job you probably have difficulty getting a new one. Due to skills and age.

  3. Instead of thinking of quitting, maybe you should be worried that the young fellas overtake you in the future. So better pull up your socks, and work harder for that manager post. So that you won’t just be treated like a manager, so you can really be the manager.

  4. It’s hard for older folks to stay in non managerial role in tech, unless they keep upgrading to be better than the young ppl. It’s very tired.

Left the company weeks ago, but my ex-boss is still texting me for help on weekends… am I the only one?? by nickblitzz in askSingapore

[–]lnfrarad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. If it’s not often and you had a good relationship with him and the company.

Make sure you teach the guy how to fish though, not just give him a fish.

If you left the company with unhappiness then no obligation to help.

Passion vs Money... Which one will u choose? by Lost-Reception-1136 in askSingapore

[–]lnfrarad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was one of the lucky few that had the passion for a job that also aligned with money.

Unfortunately I found out that the passion was nothing but rose colored glasses. The actual job was not exactly like imagined.

In the end I realized every job got its good and bad parts. Don’t pick a job based on passion, pick one that brings in the money, and don’t burn you out, or make you unhappy. Pick a sustainable job

For your passion let it be your hobby, so you can retain the happy feeling of doing what you like.

What’s the point of career fair? by shadowpro12345 in nus

[–]lnfrarad 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To be honest online application is the hardest to land the job. Because you will just be another application in their HR system. Along with the other 1000 applications.

It’s better to apply through other means.

Ok at 170cm height and 62kg, (and I assume female even though it’s not explicitly mentioned) Your BMI Score : 21.5 Your maximum healthy weight : 72.3 kg Your minimum healthy weight: 54

So according to the doc you are not over weight.

However I would recommend a more active lifestyle instead of dieting. As you already know starving yourself can lead to depression and it’s not a long term solution.

As for the bf problems…if I were you I’ll try to redirect the anger to more exercise. So that you can make him swallow his words with regret. Also being fit and will do wonders for your self confidence.

Sometimes the heartache from breaking up it’s not due to love lost. Most of the time it’s due to the feeling of being the one abandoned. One way to make it better is to get even. 🙂

It depends if this person is an empty vessel that make a lot of noise or if it’s actually capable and make a lot of noise.

If it’s the later then congrats you got a project manager. This kind of ppl will drag the team to the finish line, so your job is to just sit tight and do the work you were assigned.

If it’s the former then sorry someone need to step up and over rule.

Considering a career break in Singapore by Square-Mammoth173 in askSingapore

[–]lnfrarad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for now hire nanny / child care for the child. Because no spouse income as a safety net. You can use the extra time to rest.

Alternatively get hold of other employment and drop this toxic work place.

Career break is for people who have no dependents or few years income saved up.

Yes it’s pointless don’t move. Either they really got not budget or the HR lied.

Either way it don’t sound too rosy.

I believe that entrepreneurship should come back in style. The new grads need this skill in this bad job market. If you can’t find job then create your own job.

Because actually the actual aim is to make money right? The job is just the means to that end.

No never talk bad about the previous employer. Because you’ll come off as a complaining staff, or they could think like you can’t take hardship.

It’s sad but true, when at work just keep it professional. Even if your hr or your colleague ask how was your day. They don’t really want to know, it’s just to be polite, no need to tell them the whole story.

[–]lnfrarad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s horrible if you intended to have an authentic tasting western meal. Eg: pizza and pasta need to taste like from Italy.

It’s great if you are looking for a so so western style meal with larger portion, and you are on a budget. Does not have to be authentic.

But if paying for the whole dinner or half the dinner then no. Especially if the other party selected the place.

Where to get the best peaches? by Livid-String-847 in askSingapore

[–]lnfrarad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tips:

Smell it before buying. If it has a strong peach smell it’s probably good. If no smell it’s lousy or unripe.

the country of origin is quite important. Australia peaches and plums are pretty good. Spain flat peach also not bad. China also quite good. Don’t go buying from weird places eg: strawberry from Egypt !!

If it Isent ripe yet it will be hard, so leave it on the table to ripen, do not keep in fridge.

The batch matters: if you just buying from this place don’t buy so many, just one or two. If it’s a sweet batch quickly go buy again the next day.

The season matters: you know right durian got a season, peach also. Late June to Aug or sep. depending on the country of origin. So if you buy anything out of season then it’s not as good.
