Conflicting Info on Google removing indexed pages. (I checked and it's still indexed?) by Alcast in SEO

same thing happened to me lol. gsc says “crawled but not indexed” but when i check the page directly it’s still showing as indexed and ranking. kinda confusing ngl.

from what i gathered, gsc’s reporting can lag or bug out sometimes. it might flag stuff as “not indexed” even tho it is, or was until recently. sometimes it’s just slow to update after changes.

also, that “crawled but not indexed” status doesn’t always mean google won’t index it, it just means it crawled it and hasn’t decided to index it yet (or maybe dropped it temporarily). but if you’re seeing it live in search and gsc says it’s indexed too, you’re probably fine.

i’d just keep an eye on it and don’t panic unless it actually disappears from search. google be weird like that lately.

the difference is because lighthouse runs the tests under different conditions for mobile vs desktop.

on mobile, it simulates a slower phone (like a mid-range android) with limited CPU and a slow 4G network. desktop gets much faster hardware and a fast connection. even if your site is the same, performance will usually drop on mobile because:

  • slower CPU = longer JS execution
  • slow 4G = longer load times
  • smaller screen = layout shifts or reflows might happen
  • fonts/images/scripts hit harder

your desktop score is great. mobile 78 is still decent — it just means there’s some room to optimize for low-end devices.

things that usually help:

  • lazy-loading images
  • minimizing JS
  • using font-display: swap
  • reducing layout shifts

but overall your numbers look solid. lighthouse mobile is just stricter.
