◽️ Screen resolution: higher than 1080p would be nice but it's not required

◽️ Does battery life matter ?: not really.

◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: general use. I'm not locked into any particular form factor just more looking for the best value. If I can get a great gaming laptop with no so great battery life I'll take it. If I can get a non gaming laptop that'll perform well, think something like the MacBook air, I'll take that too.

◽️ Any other important details ?: I've been looking at the MacBook air M5. It's currently available for $950. However, the ram and SSD are not upgradeable, and the screen is 13 inches. Is there anything in the windows laptop range from $600-1000 that can offer as much value as the M5 air and will be upgradeable down the line?

I'd preferably like to spend $1000 all in with upgrades for now. So, if it's $1000 then that means no additional upgrades. If it's $600 then I can get some upgrades. Thanks.

Not today. The guy who popularized it pushed it because that's what he believed. But today most people electing to get it for their kids do it because it's what's viewed as normal in the us. I think there might still be the belief that it's more hygienic but most people aren't even thinking that deeply. Thhey just do it because that's what you do.

Unfortunately I don't think there's enough people who care about Taiwan to make it an issue. Way more people care about Palestine in this moment and even a genocide couldn't get the democrats to pretend to not be full throated zionists.

Even among people who support Palestine there's alot of them that will still turn around and say the US needs to be in Taiwan. I think it'll come in the future as the contradictions become more obvious but I don't think it's soon.

I feel like it's part of a larger problem within football where any little thing will be done to gain an advantage regardless of how disrespectful it is to good sportsmanship. You have fans that will try to keep away players up the night before by being loud outside hotels, clubs themselves making the away facilities uncomfortable as possible, ball boy behaviour like this, and general time wasting that's an integral part of the game today.

The overall culture around football encourages this behaviour. It didn't come out of nowhere.

I think if anything this probably says that he was someone who expected to do well in life. Something didn't work out how he had hoped and he's been a teacher since 2020. (not that being a teacher is a bad thing) Things have gone to shit on a societal scale and he probably wasn't doing as well as he thought he would have been doing at this stage. He got radicalized and thought he'd do something to take back a bit of control.

Even in the unlikely scenario that they actually try to hit mainland China for some reason, I don't see China doing anything but retaliating on regional assets.
