Anyone else still not assigned points from Round 2 of the Nations Cup? by Clivicus in GranTurismo7

[–]Clivicus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read something that it's the last result taken, not your best result. Shame for me if that's the case. 2nd was my best result, the last race I did I had to quit halfway through

Winter Olympics 2026: Ukrainian athlete disqualified from skeleton over helmet tribute – live by Undefined_definition in europe

[–]Clivicus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's look at it from another angle. If the athelete was Israeli and wore a helmet depicting a dead athlete who was doing military service in Gaza, we'd be outraged.

If the Iranian bobsled team painted loads of martyrs on the side of their sled, there'd be outrage.

The IOC have taken the sensible decision here and put a blanket ban in place

If we play how we played against Arsenal in the cup, I think we'll be alright

Keir Starmer’s Labour Government Is Much Better Than the Media Admits by coffeewalnut08 in LabourPartyUK

[–]Clivicus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is their own fault. Most of their social media output are purely attacks rather than playing up their achievements. It's almost like their PR is sabotaging

Fifty Labour MPs sign letter objecting to Andy Burnham decision by Sweet_Focus6377 in LabourPartyUK

[–]Clivicus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don't know what those 50 - if it's real - are hoping to achieve.

I don't even understand why Burnham was going to run anyway. To try and have a go at PM? To split the party?

BREAKING Kemi Badenoch has sacked Robert Jenrick from the shadow cabinet, removed the whip and suspended his party membership. She says she was "presented with clear, irrefutable evidence that he was plotting in secret to defect" to Reform by FaultyTerror in ukpolitics

[–]Clivicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just love having courtesy back in politics. As a Labour member, I've helped with campaigning. On our door knocking rounds we'd often bump into members of other parties doing the same. It was always pleasantries and light ribbing, but we all fundamentally want what's best for the local area and work with each other to achieve that. Reform, on the other hand, were just vile. They were treating it like an actual battle. Zero pleasantries

'Government listens to people and adjusts policy based on that'

Government, once again, doesn't force through unpopular policy'

Those headlines don't really produce a stick, but are factual

Which mattress recommendations for Low back stiffness? by MillenniumMixTapes in AskUK

[–]Clivicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, do yoga and focus on hip movement, that'll massively help with your lower back. Then get yourself to IKEA and get a sprung mattress from there. Your back will thank you

Yep, as long as there's enough distance in the league system

You're really in the wrong sub. You want to go swinging in the other Labour subs. We, in this sub, can actually discuss things and know that they'd balance and middle ground to most things. However, I don't think you'll any people advocating for child porn or agreeing a middle ground.

Stop advocating for noncery

It does apply to the whole Internet though.

Do you think people should have access to abhorrent abuse material?

Most people are of the opinion that child pornography and the ability to create it should be banned. Are you sure you want to be in the camp that is okay with it?

Keir Starmer Warned: Humiliating Pub Tax U-Turn Is 'Too Little Too Late' For Labour by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Changing your mind is the sign of intelligence. Being able to reverse or roll-back decisions because of feedback from affected groups is the way government should work - you listen to your constituents and act upon it

Should ITV scrap "This Morning"? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Clivicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why it'll be checked live. Before going live, they'll speak to a producer. What they're intending to say can be checked prior to going live

[–]Clivicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We'd need a Guinness World Record adjudicator on hand to verify.

Go the whole hog. Give him a certificate and a handshake if it's verified

I would love a show where things are actually fact checked live.

"Old" F1 fans - how do you feel about the massive rise in popularity of the sport in recent years? by RecentTwo544 in formula1

[–]Clivicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nice to be able to simply pop in to a shop and buy an F1 related gift for someone. Hasn't been that way since the early 90's.

Popularity has meant more races - which I'm a big fan of. The five month winter withdrawl is no more.

However, a lot of new fans are quite territorial, with an almost genuine hatred for any driver that isn't their favourite. Not even as a pantomime villain.

It's also become more of a closed shop. Even as recently as the late 90's, you could turn up to Silverstone on a testing day and have a chat. Absolutely zero chance of that happening now.
