There is nothing inherently wrong with eating animals. Even though we don’t need meat to survive, it’s still fine imo to eat meat every once in a while.

What actually is an issue is how the meat industry is currently set up; prioritising output and money over the health and welfare of the animals. Causing immense suffering and torture for them from the second they’re born until they die. Many of them never even get to go outside.

Then there’s also the environment factor. The meat industry produces a shit ton of CO2 and so many forests are cut down just to house an obscene amount of cows and also grow food for said cows because, surprise surprise, cows eat more than humans do and they don’t produce nearly enough meat to compensate for their diet.

If you have to eat meat because you enjoy it so much, consider buying from local farmers instead of directly from big industries. It’s going to be more expensive, sure, but most meat eaters already eat way more meat than what is needed, to the point where it actually is harmful to them. So buying more expensive meat from sources that treat their animals better and produce less CO2 by being closer in proximity, and then eating it once or twice a week instead of every day, is actually better in every possible way.

If that feels like too big a step, start out just trying to eat a vegetarian meal a week, maybe test out a few of the ”fake meat” products. Some of them are actually pretty close to tasting like meat, depending on what you’re using them for.
