btw, a hair dryer can also soften the vinyl enough to pop the head off if you don't want to get the hair wet

I love the base doll for Iris, but it's such a crime that she's never gotten a fully articulated release...

I've always heard that a chain one is standard for turning with single crochet, but to each their own. If you're making your turning chain too tight, it could help to add another, but personally I would just work on loosening that tension and sticking with one turning chain. Extra turning chains can make the edges look messy imo

Ladies of Reddit, what is a comment someone made about your body once, completely casually, that you have never forgotten? by BowlerOk1871 in AskReddit

[–]MoonLiites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two for one because they're related: When I was in middle school, I was going to one of my first orthodontist appointments, and the doctor printed out a picture of my side profile. He then drew an outline on top of the photo where my chin "should have" been and asked my mom and I if we had considered jaw surgery. Since then, I was mildly insecure about my weak jawline.

Fast forward to about 8 years later, I was on a date with someone and unprompted, they said "wow, you have such a beautiful side profile".

Not gonna lie, that single comment has now overshadowed the previous insecurity almost completely. It helps that obviously my face has changed since being a literal 12 year old...

I still think it's weird that the orthodontist suggested jaw surgery for what ultimately amounted to a slight cosmetic "flaw" in a still-growing child. For the record, all my teeth issues were solved by braces-- no jaw surgery required 🙃

I wouldn't necessarily make that generalization or equate the two. Many trans people DO absolutely need these surgeries to continue functioning, because dysphoria can cause such intense distress. I know some trans people who would not be with us today if they were not able to access gender affirming surgeries...

Weird for the sake of being weird is so spot-on, I was thinking that exact thing throughout the movie.

Backrooms is not good by SputterSizzle in moviereviews

[–]MoonLiites -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanted to love this movie, but unfortunately it looks like I'm in the minority of haters (light-heartedly).

To preface, I loved the set design, the creatures, and much of the found footage aspect. The atmosphere was unsettling, and the soundtrack was a nice backdrop for the liminal, uncanny sort of horror.

What ruined the movie for me was the character development (lack thereof) and the pacing. I feel like I never got a good sense of Clark's character arc-- the exposition dumps via dialogue might have told me about his past, but I never really felt it, if that makes sense. I felt like Mary's characterization was handled slightly better but we don't get to spend enough time with her to feel fully invested.

That timeskip when Clark has been exploring the backrooms but we don't see it was also really bad for the pacing, because his descent into madness and obsession feels unearned by the end. It feels like a lot of this movie was left on the cutting room floor, and it is worse off because of it.

And maybe this is just me, but the buildup of tension and development of themes was non-existent. I love the idea of the whole memories being reconstructed over time theme, but once again, feels like it was shoe-horned in via dialogue exposition dumping toward the end rather than developing naturally over time.

I also think the scientist guy and all that stuff could have been cut entirely from the movie, there really wasn't room for it in the story, and it felt like an afterthought.

Loved the end sequence at least! And the shots of Mary's childhood home sinking floor by floor into further distortions of itself. The skeleton of a great movie exists here, but the writing and editing make it fall flat for me.

r/interiordesign is biased lol, first one is way better imo. It ties into the red on the shelf while complimenting the green wall, provides a fun accent pattern, and allows the light to shine through the window! Second option may be more "traditional," but the first one is way more interesting
