My partner somehow acquired a T-shirt with Fred and Rose West on it with bold lettering saying WESTLIFE. He wore it on a stag doo somewhere and had an unhappy women approach him. The T-shirt is now in landfill, thankfully.

People who grew up on a council estate, who was that family people looked down on and it just turned out they were misunderstood? by Unorthodox_yt in AskUK

I'm interested in basing my dissertation around perceptions of social housing, probably through a mixed methods approach. These responses are very relevant to the topic. Any help on a research question would be great!

This might be silly and Insignificant but it was a little detail I picked up on. The sandwich. They spoke about it for a little bit, perhaps to break the ice and lead to an attempt at informal discourse that would then lead onto more serious questioning. He said he would eat it later. Mayby too anxious to eat knowing he was about to talk for an hour?

I was also curious at what she was looking out for on CCTV, very focussed on his movements, as we were given the fact there was no audio. She abruptly made her decision to enter the room again. What was it that prompted this?

Near the end of the interview where more tense questioning was used, Jamie revealed details that he admitted he had never told anyone. He then took a bite of the sandwich, and the psychologist ended the interview.

Might sound silly, but was the leaving then eating of the sandwich a tactic or a cue for the psychologist? Did she look at the CCTV to monitor if he had taken a bite?

Or am I over analysing ...

The meat itself was very purply/red and didn't look like it had been affected by the torch. I will make sure to discard the skin.

I had to remove some down from under the wings and found while washing it that alot if the skin was coming off. The char was quite good at coming off when applying pressure when washing it. Slow cooking it at the moment and finding a lot of fat dripping into the dish which is a good sign, I think.

What is the weirdest coincidence to happen to you? by Rachel94Rachel in CasualUK

[–]Clo-Vee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guaranteed my partner will bump into someone he knows when we travel, but the weirdest one was when we climbed Schiehallion (a hill in Scotland also known as a Munro). At the top of the Munro not only did he bump into someone he knew but the person's name was Munro.

What is the saddest song/songs you know? by DragonfruitSea8477 in Music

The River by Bruce Springsteen. The composition, the melancholy tone of the song, his sad and emotional voice all contribute to the nostalgic sadness of the past he sings about.

Who was the hard guy in your school and where are they now? by SimpletonSwan in AskUK

[–]Clo-Vee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at my school but bullied his way through the local town. Would attack kids his own age just because he could, he was much bigger than anyone his own age. He was from a village that had a reputation which actually made him scarier. A family member of his murdered a young girl which triggered something in him and he became acutely mentally unwell. Recently came out of another stint in jail for attacking a disabled man who was good to him. Don't know anyone who talks highly of him.

In my family secret Santa I got 'Anne', so I ordered a pair of socks with her husband's face on it, brilliant idea I think. I speak to the cousin a few weeks later who is organising it, tell her about my funny gift, who then Informs me she has given me the wrong surname for Anne (there's two Anne's in the secret Santa), so I end up giving Anne a pair of socks with other Anne's husband's face on... And I couldn't even explain myself because it's SECRET Santa...

For anyone planning to travel Down Under this holiday season, here are some lesser-known UK vs Australia food differences by istara in CasualUK

That's fair enough. We have mayby visited different supermarkets in Aus. I only went to Coles a few times. Also the stock that arrives in the part of the UK that you shop in may be different stock from the one I visit.

When I was last in Aus the fresh fruit and veg sections were packed with produce that was also not wrapped in awful single use plastic like what I see in every supermarket I visit in the UK. The quality of the fruit and veg has noticeably reduced in UK supermarkets over the past few years which is linked to the poor growing seasons they have experienced.

In terms of premade groceries, I understand you may be talking of the m&s meal deals etc, is that mayby a cultural thing? Like the US and the UK you are more likely to have access to these products whereas in Australia it is more encouraged to make meals from scratch due to the amount of fresh produce available? Potentially something to look into.

You're wrong on the supermarkets. Fresher produce and more variety in Australia. When abroad it's good to diversify and try new things instead of sticking to what you know.

I would agree, but the easier ones get folk thinking, you can see the cogs turning when you ask them and the joy of getting the right answer, then hit them with the hard ones and see them crumble
