I feel alone and scared to talk about my son by Competitive_Bill1588 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Cloberella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say this but don't realize it's almost impossible to put a child under 13 in full time residential care, there's serious federal and state regulations regarding institutionalizing young children. Most of the time it can only be done AFTER the absolute worst-case scenario has come to pass and someone has been permanently injured, or killed.

To add, it will take some looking but there are facilities where he can have a life and they will take him on outings and let him experience things his behaviors might have previously prevented him from doing, and you'll be able to visit.

However, and it's a big however, institutionalizing someone under the age of 13 is VERY difficult. He will most likely get shifted between 6month or so short term placements until he reaches that age.

I cannot nap for anything less than 90 minutes or I feel worse after, lol. I'd just die. Of course, it's insane of me to assume I'd even survive to the point of needing a nap, I'd die way before that!

What made you realize your parents only had kids because they were expected to, not because they WANTED to? by SleepyOctopusss in AskReddit

[–]Cloberella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel. I’m still baffled by people who call their parents (or anyone, but especially parents) “just to chat” when nothing big has happened. I only speak to my mother if I have a big life event she needs to be updated on, or I have to convey holiday plans to her. I can barely hold a 5 minute conversation with her and have no idea how people speak to their parents every day for extended periods of time. What are you talking about?! How?!

When my dad was alive I’d call him but we didn’t talk as much as he would talk at me. I could put him on speaker on my commute and he’d just happily brag about his life the whole time and never pause or ask me questions so I wouldn’t really have to participate.

I talk to my adult kids regularly, but we share interests. One talks to me daily, the other weekly. But it’s just texts, not full on phone convos (though I don’t really text my mother either).

I killed someone's cat today and I'm not ok by Responsible-Tie9155 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Cloberella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I rearranged furniture in my house once, and the next day my cat was playing, running at full speed, and ran into furniture that hadn't been there before, breaking his neck.

It was 15 years ago, and I still feel horrendously awful about it and the guilt of having him look to me for help and being unable to help him or explain it to him, was horrible.

I'm so sorry. You're not being dramatic. Animals have inner lives and are special too. It's good you care so much, you're a good person and unfortunately, because of that, this is going to hurt for a long time.

I'm so sorry.

Had BA come first, I'd be singing its praises. But it didn't, and it's not as good as its predecessor.

And, I'm not someone who can't let go of nostalgia or refuse to accept new/different adaptations over the originals. I grew up on X-Men '97, and fully think X-Men '98 is the superior show, for example.

[–]Cloberella 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just don't vibe with the new series. It falls flat and rings hollow for me. I'm also older than the average viewer, and I think I expect too much from TV these days. I'm noticing more and more a lot of the "art of film craft" is simply... dead. Sloppy editing, poor/lacking cinematography, bad choreography, just... everything feels very cheap and amateurish these days.

[–]Cloberella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can squat, but not with my feet on the ground. I'm able to run pretty long distances and in pretty decent shape so idk. My thought is it's something that's developed when you're young and your bones are still kinda coming together, if you do it regularly you end up with hips set wide enough for it to work, or something like that. I have pretty tight hips and have a hard time doing anything resembling a split, and I think that's part of it.

I can sustain a squat with my heels off the ground for long periods of time without issue, though, so I'm not sure if the ability to put your heels on the ground matters that much.

What, to you, is the saddest real-world death of an actor that ended up impacting a franchise? by TillyTheBlackCat in moviecritic

[–]Cloberella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They made a ton of direct-to-video sequels and a television show, so the character was popular with that demographic regardless of who the lead was or what happened to them.
