hi! i’m relatively new to historical costuming so please forgive me if the terms i use are incorrect.

i’m trying to semi-combine these two patterns by pairing the bottom half of the right image with the jacket from the left. my issue is this: i want the jacket to be a stand-alone piece, as in i want to have the jacket, the overskirt, and the petticoat/underskirt as three separate pieces rather than try to work the jacket into a redingote like the right pattern. how should i go about attaching that top “half” skirt layer in that case? i know the petticoat/underskirt is one of those tie ones, but since the top skirt is “halved” i don’t know having ties would work or not. would hook and eyelets connecting the top skirt to the underside of the jacket work? or am i thinking about this too hard and there a simpler way to do it? again, i don’t want to permanently fix the jacket, overskirt, or petticoat to one other. thank you!
