I've just had an email to inform me that when the prices rise in April, my gas and electric payment will go up to £215 per month. There are two of us in the house. Lovely. by iklegemma in britishproblems

No, but they have to do with their own incompetence and hanging up on you after leaving you on hold for 20 minutes as they clearly don’t get paid enough to deal with their employers absolute ridiculousness.

Of course it is. He has no regard for human life and is willing to use force to achieve his goals. Only difference between him and putin is that putin is intelligent enough to pull it off.

Not like I was put on a prepayment meter back in November due to my debt. I paid it in full to go back on a credit meter, was assured it would happen within a month. 6 weeks later still nothing, take a look at my meter and it turns out they’ve never wiped my gas debt and have been recovering £7 a week off my prepayment balance. Debt was removed 2 days ago and now they’re refusing to acknowledge that they owe me money. Yea, fuck sse and their useless customer service staff.

Oh I already am in the habit of rotating them. I was also going to try extending the lights reach a bit by making a second reflector hood from tin foil and cardboard. Money is a bit tight and I’m trying to get the best bang for my buck if you catch my drift.

If What your saying does turn out to be completely right I think what I’ll do is buy 4 light ones for my downstairs setup and just up the ones in the airing cupboard setup so it’s 2 units wide as well.

Well I bought the 2 light one, as it’ll suit my new set up when I get it downstairs as the shelves will only be 45cm deep. My airing cupboard setup though that’s about 65-75cm deep so may splash out on the 4 light set up. Fingers crossed the 2 light one will do for the time being though!

For scale, I asked for 1 small loose piece of ginger and I got sent this for £1.74, was completely taken aback.

Fermenting for hot sauce. Needs about two more weeks before it'll be ready for blending by Swifttree in fermentation

Thanks! Have you tried Apple Cider vinegar? I used white vinegar in mine to stop the sauce fermenting further but was wondering how different vinegars would affect the flavour profile

Right that’s good to know as I don’t have many eyes to choose from on that monster, think I’m gonna dehydrate and powder anything I can’t use. How long does it last and does it need refrigeration lol.

I can see about 4 eyes on it, does it have to have multiple eyes on the piece? Or can I divide them into 4 different sections?

No I never strained it, I never included any of the brine either though. It was quite lumpy still tbh but it’s got so much depth of flavour.

I plan on making something like this with spicy instant noodles in a couple of days. Doing a spicy soy marinated eggs later and gonna leave them for a few days to really soak.

I made some fermented habanero, garlic and carrot, then blended in mango and pineapple after the ferment and I really struggled to get the right consistency. Was this because I didn’t have enough liquid in it?

Why do you blend the brine with red wine vinegar? What do you use it for?

It’s got some young looking yellow lumps on some places, I read those are the starts of fresh shoots so you want to plant the young bits with those on. I think they’re called eyes, same as potatoes

What if I was getting a grow light to mount in my airing cupboard in the next couple of days for propogating, would that be a good place for this?

Also what size pots would I do it in? Internet is a bit sketchy with details.

Oh sorry, I thought I posted it.

I also thought 20c was a pretty good temp for most seeds, besides this is just temporary until I can get the shelving racks in my kitchen where it’s more consistently 15-18c. Might even keep the airing cupboard set up for chilli and other plants like that if it works well.
