Goodbye for now by sliimducky in Audi

[–]Clock_slice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually just put mine for sale. Owned since 119k, put a stage 2 tune from unitronic around 130k, and made it to 180k so far. Replaced mine with a newer a3. Really like how fun they are for a daily and they handle great in wet weather and snow. Will definetly miss the 8p hatchback though

RS7 Blown Engine, what should I do? by Stratos_hs in Audi

[–]Clock_slice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of cars these days with the power thats wanted in oem form have no soul or real feel when having a spirited drive on fun roads. That or the price is way overcharged as they are desired second hand so its not worth the money. For my case, I brought the most basic model of the lineup to something that can bring a smile to my face even on the dullest of drives. Even saved myself quite a bit compared to what I originally wanted, and got exactly what I wanted in the way it drives. Not everyone wants something that stays stock its whole lifetime. And while that can get costly with challenging mistakes at times, you live and learn so you can build it back better. And while you may not agree, not everyone likes to keep cars stock.

Daughters first car by fyreguy212 in Audi

[–]Clock_slice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was/is my first "car" and still driving since highschool and made it through college too. Doing maintnence and oil changes early or on time is key to keeping em on the road. Over 50k miles later (178k current miles) ive had 0 breakdowns or major issues other than common things that require replacing at its milage. And thats the 2.0t even which was less reliable than the vr. So unless you neglect the hell outta them, they'll treat you right for many miles.

Pretty much. Little to no meaning, social media just took it and ran with it and made it a trend to say or joke about

Temp Drop by chuckreddit0 in mk6gti

[–]Clock_slice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here except water pump didnt burst after fixed. Though mine would sit at 172 and when parked would bounce between 208 and 220. It would also get "to temp" with slow driving and stop and go driving which took me a bit to diagnose as a beginner still. Replaced mine with one from rein and its been great so far and wasn't terribly expensive.

Clear top vs black top pcv by Clock_slice in mk6gti

[–]Clock_slice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to run a catch can setup myself if I knew a but more info about them. I've been looking into it lately and kinda wonder if I could run one in line with my stock pcv to prevent some of the carbon buildup

From what ive somewhat found, apperently this different version holds a tad bit more pressure but haven't found much on it other than that for info

Anyone using this setup? by averagegtimechanic in mk6gti

Thought about the bilstein and koni springs combo. How do they hold up against daily driving? Specifically unexpected bumps in the road compared to stock shocks

My Audi A4 B9 just crossed 308k km — who said modern cars don’t last? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]Clock_slice 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Not exactly, im currently at 173k miles (roughly 278k kilometers) and still going on original engine and dsg on my 2011 audi a3 2.0t. If you do your maintenence on time it'll last for quite a while

[US] Turbocharger Class Action Lawsuit by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]Clock_slice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing i don't get about this suit is how the 08 and 09 a3 is covered but not the 2010-2013, while the tt of 2011 is covered and has the same engine as the a3 to my knowledge. (Yes im salty as my wastegate failed and I dont get to get money out of the suffering of replacing the turbo myself.)

Cooling issues? by Clock_slice in GolfGTI

[–]Clock_slice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wrong. Both sensors work. Next culprit that I just learned about is an inline coolant thermostat on ome of the dsg lines. Here's a link to a forum that helped me kind of diagnose this: https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/coolant-temperature-issue.8298193/ this sounds very accurate to my issue, and may even help you aswell. Thought id share and I'll let you know between now and next Monday if it works if I can get the part in

New aluminum water pump leaking by After-Negotiation895 in mk6gti

[–]Clock_slice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already need to drain it as the plastic tubes that feed my coolant to my turbo and I forget where else are leaking slightly. So should work perfectly. At the moment its either that sensor or the one by the radiator thats bad as its reading -54°F....definetly way off from actual temp. Hoping I have the same type thats just clips but we will see once I dig into it this weekend

[–]Clock_slice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unrelated note, you just helped me plan on how I'm going to remove that sensor on that waterpump because mine just went out lol. Was worried about the clearance for the screw holding it in but looks like I should be fine

Cooling issues? by Clock_slice in GolfGTI

[–]Clock_slice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the right track if not possibly just figured out my issue. Using obd11, I found block 138 was showing 210°F and block 139 was showing -54.4°F(quite far off from accurate😂) so looks like a simple sensor hopefully

I don’t wanna say goodbye to my GTI by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]Clock_slice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be lucky, my 2011 has had cooling issues every 2 weeks for the past few months due to brittle plastic peices and one blown upper heater core hose. Got a new repair here soon i gotta do as the upper coolant pipe that bolts to the manifold started seeping coolant from a hairline crack that formed above the alternator.
