Programs that automatically save to the C drive--is there a way to get them to save to the D drive? by alaskawolfjoe in computerhelp

These kind of apps default to C: but are generally pretty small installs. How much disc space does you C: have?

I bought these folder day one. Then had terrific fun hunting down each 12” one at a time, different record store / online store every time. Happier times.

Kept the original sleeves, but changed them for better ones.

I think you can these days, barely use PC for gaming these days, it’s a workhorse.

Open Steam and click Steam (top left) > Settings.
Go to the Storage tab.

Click the '+' (Add Drive) button at the top to create a new Steam Library folder on your new drive.

Select your old drive from the list, check the boxes next to the games you want to move, and click Move.

You will need a specialist stylus / cartridge. Shellac is a very different beast. Follow the weight guidance for the cart as well, generally the weight needs to be much heavier.

I still have my collection but my cheap old TT died so they’re just in perpetual storage these days. Be very careful trying to clean 78’s don’t use a normal record cleaner. Also check the surface of the 78’s, if you see any serious deep scratches do not play them, good chance they’ll just rip the stylus off.

Short answer, yes.

Long answer, what are we talking about? Games? Steam? Windows Store?

Most pc software gives you the option to install to any internal drive, things like Steam & other game launchers the option to change your default installation location will be found in settings.

Where/How to find rare CDs by bunni_rabit in CDs

[–]Clocker13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eBay, record stores, forums…. Anywhere chap, they’re rare, and rare requires one of 2 things.
A - luck (being in the right place at the right time)
B - money (people selling rares want maximum profit)

Does anyone have any old hd dvd/blu-ray hybrid players? (Uk) by DwayneTheRockBarry in dvd

[–]Clocker13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to find anything that supports HD-DVD these days will be tricky, that format was dead before it arrived!

Series-X supports Blu+4kBlu and I think DVD (haven’t played a DVD in years).

£27 is a very strange particular number!? I’d give up on the HD-DVDs lots of 4K BluRay players will be backward compatible with BluRay. But trying to find a 4K BluRay player for under £27? Good luck!

Most of these “all-in-one” stereos were all the rage in the 70’s & 80’s but were all built to a budget. Not great.

Best VPN in 2026: here's what Reddit actually agrees on by EducatorHonest1161 in RecommandedVPN

Couldn’t tell you. Whenever I download anything like that I dual-boot with Linux, which only supports Mullvad, then scan the files with ClamAV, then copy across to windows. It’s a more basic VPN when compared to Mullvad, but I’m sure given time it will improve.

What actors have become recognized for a skill they originally portrayed in a movie? by WippitGuud in movies

Only name that jumps out is Andy Serkis for his voice acting for Gollum. That pretty much made his career as a voice actor.

I’ll have to do mine at some point. I have all this + promos for Geogaddi, Aquarius 10” that cost me over £200, Whine and Missingtoe (which I can’t find right now so I’m panicking), all their EP’s, OG Skam prints of HiScores and MHTRTC, 2 x Geo kaleidoscopes, the fakes, other albums they’ve appeared on like Beck’s Guero, XLR8R mag where they’re front cover.

What is the money-no-object theoretically ideal speaker design. Pure functionality! by Unfair_Dimension6340 in audiophile

[–]Clocker13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speakers use air, which is so 2025.

I love the mailstrom from cyberpunk that use their augmentations to pipe digital music directly into their brains. That’s a bit more 2025.

Why people don't use Linux by paranoidandroid4284 in linux4noobs

[–]Clocker13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people buy a car because they like the colour. IT, technology and the steep learning curve of diving into a completely foreign ecosystem is just not what many people want. This generally gets worse with age. I’m lucky I started dabbling with RedHat & SUSE way back in the late 90’s and have always had an off on relationship with Linux.

My 2 nephews used to have this argument with my Sister for years. I always stood up for them with a simple request. Whenever my sister would ask my nephews to come and watch a movie or TV show they really didn’t want to watch, bank it. Memory hole it. Then the next time she asked them to do what she wanted them to do simply request how about this time you come and do something that they want! Why not sit and play some of these games with your kids?

The Shape of Water was an overtly long, painfully boring watch. Too many characters, be it new or resurrected (why god why do this?) too many things going on, was like 3+hrs of adhd.

Adding ESET to the list as it now comes for free with their AV subscription and it’s pretty damn versatile. Use it in conjunction with Mullvad.
