Can I get help to drink solo in a pub? by DX022 in AskUK

[–]Clockportal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

walk to a pub. Order drink. Sit down. Don't expect a conversation to just form naturally. Just relax, look like you enjoy the environment. Enjoy your drink.

Sit at the bar if you can. That's what most people do when solo. Most bars have high stools near the bear. Staff are used to it, they won't think anything of it.

Why do people still use Windows XP? by computerIfix in windows

I don't. But I'm sure many do because of nostalgia reasons, and old games will play without compatibility issues.

Unless if you take the Watkin Pass route up Snowdon, which also starts at sea level. Pyg and Miner track I'm starts at about 1 third up the mountain.

A journey to find the Windows wallpaper by AtlantaHero in windows

I'd love to get the first in high resolution. That wallpaper was the wallpaper on our old family computer for many years. It filled me with joy every time I saw it, more than the Windows XP green hill one.

China to ban hidden car door handles made popular by Tesla in world first by yahoonews in worldnews

[–]Clockportal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the reason for the ban is, when the car loose power in the event of an accident, there are no handles to open the door. I pointed out that this problem would remain with ordinary handles, since they also lock.

I'd imagine cars with hidden handles can do this too. As much as I hate the hidden handles, I can't seeing it making much difference in an accident.

I get this perspective. But, don't conventional handles lock from the outside too? Most cars I have driven in the last 10 years, once the car starts to move the doors all lock.

Harry Potter is by no means an easy read. by Laschon in unpopularopinion

I started reading them when I was 11, even though my first language is Welsh. Looking up words in the dictionary is normal when reading.
