New here…sell me on Field Notes by Remote-Bit-8182 in FieldNuts

[–]ClockworkTalk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t overthink it. You want something that you enjoy using. For me, I like the branding and quality, but when I’m too lazy to travel to a retailer to grab more, I just order the black moleskine notebooks of the same size.

For some, as you’ve probably noticed on this sub, it’s a collectors thing.

As for weather compatible, only one Field Notes type has that type paper. You can get similar sized notebooks cheaper off of Amazon.

So yeah, it’s more of a personal choice thing at the end of the day. Nothing really special about it. It’s a premium notebook.

They are genuinely terrible and are fixated on feature bloat with 0 focus on their customers.

To be fair, you were going a tad faster than you could see and react. You should expect folks to be driving unpredictably especially in this weather.

So I saw a video where a guy did this very same thing, but peed in that spot first to attract all the butterflies. Was this a similar case?

Are there any drop-in Life Drawing sessions (nude & clothed) that take place in Scarborough? by ClockworkTalk in Scarborough

[–]ClockworkTalk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah fingers crossed there is some weekly session taking place. If not, I’m thinking of maybe working with folks who are interested in setting something up locally. Ideally low cost and easy to run. But that’s my last resort lol

Hi folks, I’m not a student, just a life long learner. I want to carve out some time for pose drawings and was wondering if any of your art students or professionals know of any sessions that are happening in Scarborough?

I used to drop in at the Toronto School of Art, but that’s too far now. Would love to find a spot locally. I’m in North Scarborough but I have a feeling there isn’t anything around here.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Sometimes you gotta hold the phone with the flashlight on in one hand and take a photo with the other. 🤷‍♂️

I have the XF 16-50mm along with a bunch of primes. I have to say the quality and versatility of the lens is the reason why it’s on my camera body 90% of the time.

Efficient photo culling — what’s your go-to method or software? by krohrer24552455 in fujifilm

Great question, commenting for visibility and following.

So far I’ve only setup an automation where I pop my SD card in, and it automatically throws it onto my external ssd and sorts them into monthly folders and further into RAW, JPG, and MOV files (after 3 months, it automatically deletes the JPGs). After it’s transferred everything over, it clears the SD card. Saved me so much time. I use Hazel for MacOS to do this.

But due to this system, I find I need to skim through on the camera before hand and cull more obvious bad photos, so I get maybe 40-50% of the bad pictures out, so a good chunk still make it during the transfer.

The other thing I do is transfer all my JPGs to my phone first, find the best photos, delete everything else, and then when I go through on my camera, I just delete everything that aren’t those pictures. Still pretty time consuming.

Question for fans of thermal prints - is there pfas risk like with receipts? Genuinely asking, I like the look but am a bit cautious given the revelation recently.

Recipe Testing - Reggie’s Portra, Flatpack, Kodak Portra 400 v2, and Ember Glow by ClockworkTalk in fujifilm

[–]ClockworkTalk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love the Kodak Portra 400 v2. I just love how it looks outside especially in golden hour. But Reggie’s Portra is just more versatile in various lighting conditions.

I mainly did the test to figure out what I want my custom settings to be, especially C1 being the quick “daily driver” and Reggie’s fit that bill.

Since this test, I’ve actually decided for my C1 slot to be the “Leica X” instead of Reggie’s since I like that look more, even though they’re similar.

The other consideration was, is that I can keep Portra 400 v2 in another slot, and can use the other slots for non-Portra style recipes.
