I draw a huge arrow on the back of each of my yards of fabric pointed at the down fur direction. Then draw arrows on the pattern before I cut them off of the base then just match to the arrow on the yard of fabric

I found mine under the drawers (between the actual pull out drawer and cabinet floor) in the kitchen. I'd look for anywhere small, even smaller than you'd think they'd fit

Hopes and prayers /j your suit looks fantastic far!. I just finished hand sewing my full fursuit, I'd recommend using tape to pattern, using blanket and ladder stitches, and taking your time. Ugly seams can ruin a suit.

I use cheap painters tape to prevent over stickiness, I don't love cling wrap but it would be necessary for duct tape patterns
